" ...1. The cause of your constipation is dietary. From your brief message,

below, we have no information about what you eat ... " going raw " describes

nothing at all ... and it is possible that your version of a raw diet is

quite constipating. Also, we have no information about you. For example, if

you are overweight, then your system is always dehydrated which could

contribute to this situation.

2. The cause of your constipation is not dietary, in which case we might

explore emotional and/or other causes.

Back to you! :)... "

When I said " going raw, " I mean that I juice carrots, cucumber, and any

fruit left in the fruit bowl for my family's use from the day before. I am

drinking about 2L of juice per day. Other than that, I eat lots of veggies

and fruits. About once a week, I have had a small amount of cooked food.

As for my over all health, I am about 50 pounds over weight. I am 46 years

old.

I have always considered that emotions could play a major role in my

diagnosis, as I was diagnosed a couple years after having a miscarriage and

then experiencing the death of our 17-day-old son who was never conscious

during his life. Uh, yes, I have always considered that an option.

Does that help?

I was just thinking about this as I was reading emails and there it is.

My period has lightened up quite a bit after having an awful time with that

entire thing. It would knock me out for a week. The last 2 times, it's been

great. A few hours of some heaviness and then it's just gone!

Never would have thought it. It did get worse for me before it got better.

Re: [Raw Food] Constipation

i didnt, but the " ash " left behind by the food is so much less that there is

just less bulk to pass. the food is almost all absorbed...its a great thing

as far as im concerned...

have any females noticed that their periods lighten up tremendously

when eating raw for a full cycle? another amazing thing...i never

knew that the food i was eating was actually causing so much " trash "

that even my uterus needed to rid itself of it...

for me, raw dropped my period from 6 days to 3. and i had wondered

what was wrong when it went from 5-6 days, years ago....now i know...

.....eating too much junk..

Your digestion can take a long time to heal. I have seen many remain

constipated at first, even on a very very simple diet. Many benefit

from using herbs to assist elimination at first. Unlike what some

think, herbs are natural and elimination is important. Something like

Intestinal Formula 1 by Dr. Schulze - www.herbdoc.com - is extremely

beneficial for this issue, and totally safe, even for raw vegans. If

this doesn't appeal to you, perhaps just make a senna tea (senna

being an herb that is in formula one, known for it's properties to

assist in stimulating the bowel). It is better to eliminate than to

be constipated. While your body is catching up and healing, this can

assist. There is no risk of it harming your peristalsis abilities

long term (a common fear) and you will be able to begin healing more

efficiently as your body is able to remove toxins as it is supposed

to. Have you had your metals checked and gotten a reputable lymes

test? I ask because you indicated you have MS and those are common

underlying infections. Also, in Sweet Misery people who ingested a

lot of excitoxins and had reactions were diagnosed as well. I

interviewed a woman who reversed hers 100% naturally, and has MRI's

to prove it (with lesions, 3 months later without). She was almost in

a wheelchair, but reversed it all. Email me personally and I'll be

more than happy to send you a copy of the interview if you would

like. :-)

Please tell me what works for the constipation, as I eat 2-3 pieces of fruit a

day (all in the morning) and then beans and lettuce and all veggies with skin

on. What am I doing wrong?

I had lots of cheese this weekend (which I rarely do- pizza and homemade

mac-n-cheese), so I think that has something to do with it. But, I guarantee

that if I ate a bag of m and m's I would be going with in 20 minutes. Why?

pdw <pdworkman wrote: I had a pretty bad

week. I was doing well, but then this fructose

intolerance thing screwed up my diet. Cutting way back on fruits,

which I was eating to beat the band, resulted in constipation, which

of course adds pounds to the scale because I've still got an extra day

or two or three of food left in the intestines taking its own sweet

time. And of course a bunch of the fruit I cut out was replaced by

bread/pasta while I tried to put together a list of " safe " fruits and

veggies and get my shopping done.

Then add on top of that I had to make an extra run to the health food

store Saturday to pick up some pop for my boys (sweetened with cane

juice rather than corn syrup) and ended up buying treats there too,

which had to be consumed all at once. ;-) I had salads for supper,

but they were all dressed one way or another.

Sunday was Mother's Day, so I had very little control over what I was

allowed to eat. Breakfast was not too bad, eggs and toast with pb,

good high protein to get me through to mid-afternoon when we would be

home from church. Had an orange at church when my blood sugar dropped

again. Forgot my glucose tablets at home. Hubby made waffles for

dinner, hash browns, veg chicken, I had pineapple and soy yogurt on my

waffles. Yes, syrup too, but I tried to limit it. Water to drink in

spite of the fact that hubby really wanted us to have more pop. Later

in the evening DS served me ice cream with chocolate sauce.

Thankfully not too much.

Anyway, the upshot of the matter is that I'm about 7 lbs heavier this

Monday than I was last. I'm hoping most of that is the constipation,

and I'm trying to eat lots of veggies, lots of water, and trying to

avoid sugar as much as possible! Breakfast this morning was egg

whites omelet and left over hash browns (no oil, no ketchup), and a

couple of prunes; morning snack was raw carrots and celery; cooked

veggies for lunch; and I've got some homemade trail mix and some

pineapple and soy yogurt for a mid-afternoon protein boost, and

oranges for the commute home. There is more celery and marinated

salad (FF) in the fridge here. Oh, and DS and I did go for an

hour-long walk last night. We probably won't get to our usual swim

tonight, since DS had pretty bad diarrhea this morning (too many

oranges!) But maybe he'll be okay by then.

Probably taco salad for supper tonight (terra chips, beans, salad

veggies, homemade dressing, a bit of soy cheese). Then an evening

snack (treat) with hubby in the evening. Hopefully if I am pretty

careful about the sugary snacks and potato chips over the next few

days, and eat lots of fiber, my weight will drop down again a bit!

Prunes, flax seed, psyllium husks, aloe vera, rhubarb, (all the

previous with plenty of water) exercise, abdominal massage.

I have a genetic condition which results in weak abdominal wall

muscles, so constipation is something I battle constantly. Before I

figured out this fructose intolerance, I was eating closer to 6

servings of fruit a day, mostly apples, pears, and berries. No

constipation! But the short transit time might just be because I was

intolerant of them, too. My body was getting rid of them as quickly

as possible.
