Guest guest
Hey All, Until now I've just been trying to use up the ton of salad dressing bottles I've got taking up space in the fridge. Could you all share your fav raw dressing with me to give me some ideas? Thanks! Jenn
Guest guest
I enjoy salsa on my salads. Here's the recipe I use. Easy Salsa 4 Roma Tomatoes, chopped 1 small onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped the juice of one lime Dash of celtic sea salt Combine all ingredients and add salt to taste. --- rabbit_is_wise_04 <jennifersmith wrote: > Hey All, > > Until now I've just been trying to use up the ton of > salad dressing > bottles I've got taking up space in the fridge. > Could you all share > your fav raw dressing with me to give me some ideas? > > Thanks! > Jenn > > Sarah Formhals http://www.workathomeunited.com/formhals Check out what's in your home http://www.epa.gov/kidshometour/ ______________________________\ ____Choose the right car based on your needs. Guest guest
Hi, Whether each person chooses to eat something like this or not, it may be helpful to be aware of a few things: This recipe is: - High in fat ... almost all the calories come from fat, and there are a LOT of calories. (Analyze using Nutridiary or FitDay, and see for yourself!) - High in insoluble / indigestible fiber, the kind that rips at the lining of the digestive system. - High in pure acid (the vinegar, acetic acid diluted with water). - High in salt (sodium chloride), very caustic to humans and many other things. (Salt destroys cars, buildings, roads ... and salt may be the most severe food addiction in the world.) Just things to be aware of ... Guest guest
Well, I agree on the fat front. It wouldn't be on my regular menu, that's for sure. Perhaps as an understood splurge with guests. However, I reckon you cannot conclude it is high in salt from the recipe alone, as it gives the measurement as " to taste. " For me, that means none. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog rawfood , " Elchanan " <Elchanan wrote: > > Hi, > > Whether each person chooses to eat something like this or not, it may be > helpful to be aware of a few things: > > This recipe is: > > - High in fat ... almost all the calories come from fat, and there are a LOT > of calories. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, It still sounds tasty (well, I remember when I probably would have enjoyed it). And, maybe not everyday. Guest guest
LOL ... Great point Erin, I was obviously reading a bit too quickly. Yes, salt " to taste " can mean none at all ... and I, of course, recommend that quantity. :) Best to all, Elchanan _____ rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Erin Tuesday, May 22, 2007 12:49 PM rawfood [Raw Food] Re:Salad Dressings Well, I agree on the fat front. Guest guest
Hi... In response to Sunflower-seed dressing... It's not something I would rely on .....but I do have alot of respect & time for Gabriel Cousens work.. Also I personally would not recommend the use of any salt other than Celtic sea salt or Himalayan, which are live..sun-dried & very high in minerals..Himalayan..contains every mineral & trace element found in the human body...www.detoxyourworld.com carries this info on them as well as David Wolfes & cousen's work. And so to with fat...I would always aim to balance any fats with a good poportion of greens... & once again it's personal... & so intuitive...some days / weeks my body wants more fats, other times not... Trial & error & so Listening to your own body... I don't do well on raw fermentend apple cider vinegar...but do do very well on lemon... & so more often than not substitute it. But fats are good, at least the right fats & at the right times..not only for the brain etc. & all else...but they help insulate our nerves etc. etc. Also interesting is the salt taste in Ayurveda...also incorporated into Gabriel Cousens work...he's an ayurvedic practitioner...some body types..namely vatta can be balance by the salty taste...whereas pitta & kapha unbalanced. Salt can help bring the energy down into the physiacl...if, as in vatta you are prone to being more ungrounded... personal again & reading your own body & responses. What's good for one is not for another...amazing really! And then of course we can test our urine response to al these foods / tastes etc. which personalizes it even more. All good stuff All the best Makaela
