Well, at some point I'm running out of things to say about this. I just

don't use such products any more. Soap on dishes at times, or to wash hands

at times, that's pretty much it.

I went through a period with the Castile soaps, but that was years ago.

Perhaps we can just perceive this as just one more transition on our

individual paths of health. :):) Each person will experiment and make

changes that seem to suit him/her. I've just become SO very conscious of any

use of products, packaging, etc.

Best,

Elchanan

[Raw Food] Hair soap????

Hi All, I changed the subject line. I like what you said Elchanan it

makes sence. I went to using acastile soap with lavender in it and

like it very much I even use it at work for my hand and I don't get

all dryed out anymore. Also use a good organc conditioner. I had read

that just to use the conditioner and use flaz seed ground sooked over

night for the soap but I could not do that because all the things I

had to comb out of my hair later. Maybe you have something to say on

that.

Fun question, and they are all fine. :) The thing is, our species would not

have survived through the eons if we lacked the capacity to be attracted to

one another sexually and socially, without any cover-up. The cover-up

chemicals are relatively recent, in anthropological terms.

When we begin to eat and live healthfully ... REALLY healthfully ... the

stink vanishes. I realize that this may sound almost incomprehensible, given

all the advertising we've all heard for all manner of " hygiene " products ...

but it is true, nevertheless. It takes a bit of time to get there ... and

less than one might think, unless one is very overweight. Then it takes a

bit longer. But it happens, guaranteed, to those who choose to live more

closely in harmony with Nature's design.

Best,

Elchanan

I don't really understand the not using soap to wash stuff.

If you are not using soap, what are you doing? Just a quick rinse

with some warm water?

When clean on the inside, do you not get sweaty and oily any more?

I gotta to say. I am all for the all natural stuff in all areas.

But I have to draw the line at the not bathing from head to toe.

Though I am into living all natural as much as I can in an unatural

world, I also live by the " Cleanliness is next to Godliness " thing.

Several years ago, when I was a stay at home mom, I lived this way

more than now. Living natural is incredibly time consuming, but I

loved it. Now I just do not have the time to devote to it like I

once did.

I learned to make my own soap from scratch. Spring water, lye,

various oils, goats milk and herbs that I gathered myself and pure

essential oils.

My family and I used this soap exclusively for many years. I even

learned how to make it into soap for washing clothes and dishes.

Washed the dogs with it too.

I gathered herbs, roots and dried them for medicinal purposes as well

as just everyday care. It was wonderful.

Hopefully someday soon, I will not be working so much and can get to

my soap making and herbs and root gathering.

I do believe being clean to be important and healthful as long as it

can be done without harmful chemicals. I believe it important for

our homes to be clean also. Now I am not talking about passing the

white glove test, lol, or the kind of homes you see on TV that I am

convinced no one really lives there. At least not in the rooms they

show everyone.

My own home is messy, but relatively clean. Well, by my standards,

not by some of my friends and relatives. LOL

I don't mop floors very often, but do spot clean when necassary. I

use only warm or hot water if that will get the spots up.

But occasionally, I need something a little more and I use it.

I have got rid of all the carpet in our house and we have smooth

floors. It's easier to keep clean (often hot water is enough) and

gets the chemicals from the carpet out of my home.

But when nothing else will get the job done, I will bring out the big

artilery. (like bleach to kill the mold in the grout in the bathroom)

Theresa:

Back when I was a hippie, we would soak whole flax seed in water for a

couple of hours, then squeeze the liquid out and use it as a glosser

and/or setting lotion (think an early straightening solution).
