Guest guest
Hi Erica, The best resources for this are Doug Graham's vegsource board and the PathOfHealth Group. Dr. Graham created this program (801010), and PoH is a place where you can receive a level attention unparalleled elsewhere. Basically, the key to moving beyond this diagnosis is to cut the fat from your diet. Specifically, for a time, this means cutting ALL sources of what we might call " overt fats " . These are foods that contain more than the minimal quantity of fats found in fruits and greens ... nuts, seeds, olives, coconuts, avocados, and of course the worst offender, oils. When you do this, you'll notice a marked improvement in blood sugar levels very quickly. At the same time, you will have removed a lot of calories from your diet, which you'll need to replace, that's where the fruits come in. But the fruits contain fewer calories per bite. And so the process of transitioning becomes one of relearning to eat larger quantities of food ... after all, it's mostly water! Please see post # 29100 for more information on this topic. Guest guest
Elchanan, Thank you so much for your email. I am about to coach a 600+lb type 2 diabetic. I'm just pursuing options for right now and appreciate your input. If he can't have nuts and seeds, really, and fruits will offset him (ANYthing is going to be a shock at this point), is he just supposed to live on greens? I have seen diabetics react to even fat-free green smoothies (leafy greens and fruit)..... He aims to start Monday on raw. Thanks so much for your insight. :-)
