Guest guest
Interesting.. I ate oatmeal the other night.. First time in quite awhile. All night and throughout the next day I felt like I was getting a doozy of a cold. I was sure to mix the oatmeal with only water, no dairy, as this time of year is usually pretty bad for my allergies any ways. I wonder if this was an allergic reacction? Could nasal allergies be caused from oatneal? ~Jenn ---- Anna Bishop 06/08/07 19:40:47 rawfood Re: [Raw Food] Re: Grains and arthritis ... why Pritikin failed (WAS: How long could you live on ...? (WAS: Deodorant) then everything ive ever read about oats has been wrong. and the sticky gluey stuff in them has been a figment of my imagination. As has my allergic reaction to it and the blood test telling me what foods had gluten that indicated oats. im open to whatever is true. But i have read for yyyeeaarrs that it does. its not worth me arguing over it. I cant eat it. im done. peace anna On 6/8/07, Erin <truepatriot wrote: > rawfood , " Anna Bishop " <mowthpeece wrote: > > > > theres toxins in potatoes. > > > > and oats are high in gluten..that gluey stuff they emit when > > cooked..it traps cholesterol and fats so good for that but the glue > > clogs up the villi in the intestine....the stuff gets thru and i > > react... > > [...] > > AFAIK, there is no gluten in oats (unless you're speaking of > the common situation of cross-contamination). Guest guest
oohhh yes!.... my nose gets all clogged when i eat breads and cereals... theres very few i can tolerate...milk also causes this for me... i dont see how humans are supposed to eat oats...the groat is small and hard and requires crushing and steaming, then boiling just to get to eat it... its not something primitive man could have thrived on,,but it does have some of those cozy feel good dopamine releasing carbs that we love so much...and doesnt it taste good? gosh i think it does....particularly with brown sugar and cinnamon...mmmmmmmmmmmm.. the calories would have helped to survive and keep the tummy full,,but really...how could we thrive on that? if i eat oatmeal, my blood sugar goes thru the roof and the top of my head wants to come off....my digestion is seemingly smooth, but i end up worse than i started cuz my joints start to stiffen... i love the comfort of it though...its a cold weather yumyum... peace anna On 6/8/07, ~Jenn <tommysmommy56065 wrote: > > Interesting.. Guest guest
I've never had that kind or any kind of reaction from oatmeal. I happen to love oatmeal, malt o meal, grits, all that stuff. Darn it, I wish I didn't. For awhile before I was raw, I would eat it every morning with raisins. mmmm. I love it. I just won't eat it anymore. Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Guest guest
Hi Jenn, Instead of using medical terminology ( " allergy " ), I suggest simply appreciating the enormous amount of extra work your body is undertaking to eliminate the stuff. The body produces mucus for self-protection ... to wrap foreign matter, keep that foreign matter out of contact with tissues, and move the foreign matter out of the body. We don't know anything else about what you are eating. so connecting the oatmeal more directly than that would be impossible without more information.
