RE: [Raw Food] Re: Grains and allergies

Hi Jenn,

Instead of using medical terminology ( " allergy " ), I suggest simply

appreciating the enormous amount of extra work your body is undertaking to

eliminate the stuff. The body produces mucus for self-protection ... to wrap

foreign matter, keep that foreign matter out of contact with tissues, and

move the foreign matter out of the body. We don't know anything else about

what you are eating. so connecting the oatmeal more directly than that would

be impossible without more information.

Best,

Elchanan

Interesting.. I ate oatmeal the other night.. First time in quite awhile.

All night and throughout the next day I felt like I was getting a doozy of a

cold. I was sure to mix the oatmeal with only water, no dairy, as this time

of year is usually pretty bad for my allergies any ways. I wonder if this

was an allergic reacction? Could nasal allergies be caused from oatneal?

I actually did eat raw oatmeal the other day. I have to say it was not bad

really. I have a big thing of oatmeal, I had purchsed before deciding to go raw,

and I just hate the idea of wasting it so I thought.........hmmmmmm I

wonder....

So I made a kind of trail mix, with nuts, seeds, rasins and oatmeal from the

box. It tastes ok. It tastes raw...lol

I can get used to it. I made up several baggies. This way I can toss one in my

purse and take it with me so I have a snack during times when I might be having

a hard time and need something to " tide me over " til I get home.

from what i understand the cracked and rolled oat groat is steamed

first to get it to crack...so its not really raw..

if you had raw oats..it would look like a hard seed, brown, about half

the size of a grain of brown rice..with the same waxy hardness..

the soft flat thing is already processed..

well i dont know cuz i didnt see it..

im assuming though that you had the cracked and rolled oat...those are

steamed to make them soft... Then rolled flat...

if you roll a dry raw groat..youd get dust. Like crushing dry raw

rice....you cant soak rice in juice and eat it...right?
