Actually that seems foolhardy as it results in a spiritual (the one seeking perfection) ego trying to get rid of the imperfect (the one causing all the trouble) ego. The ego is not the enemy. Although I'm only speaking from direct experience. neal.

Guest guest
its a figure of speech. i think you know that ego death is a term much misused in this country. but in one word, i can describe a close enough goal, to find the person i was looking for. the true meaning of ego death is not death of the ego at all, it is merely to remove the barriers, etc, caused by the ego. neither to make it matter, nor to make it not matter...for either extreme would be making much a do about nothing... and cause equal suffering. but this is buddhism, and this group is about raw eating....so i didnt feel the need to get into the details about the 'true meaning' of " ego death " ..i was speaking in short-hand.... my point was to find out who it was that asked me the questions about the exercises to accomplish the above...not to define it for the group. but i appreciate your illumination...it is always helpful to be reminded. peace anna On 6/12/07, neal <kneel.pardoe wrote: > > On Tuesday 12 June 2007 04:37, Anna Bishop wrote: > > i just remembered today that someone...(dont remember who soooo > sooorrry) > > had asked about egodeath exercises.... > > Actually that seems foolhardy as it results in a spiritual (the one > seeking > perfection) ego trying to get rid of the imperfect (the one causing all > the > trouble) ego. > > The ego is not the enemy. > > Although I'm only speaking from direct experience. > > neal. > > > >
Guest guest
lol....oh boy..sometimes i hate the written word with no inflection.. for the purpose of looking for who asked me, i didnt want to be too exacting on the definition of ego-death...i didnt feel it mattered.. for the purpose of defining ego-death, its fine to be accurate.. i truly appreciate you bringing that up.... what i was trying to say is my attention wasnt on that, it was only to find the person...any other discussion off topic may be taken privately to avoid irritating others. or not. whatever anyone wants..i just didnt want to bother others in that way.. maybe i was wrong to assume anyone would mind...so ill push the envelope.... now i have a question for you... how do you physically remove the ego? or remove the barriers caused by it? i only know the psychological ways... thanks anna On 6/12/07, neal <kneel.pardoe wrote: > > On Tuesday 12 June 2007 21:16, Anna Bishop wrote: > > hi neal, > > > > first i should ask if when you say exercises, you mean physical ones? > > I meant that I only knew of physical one's. > > > > cuz i was referring to mental ones.... > > > > anna > > that is what I thought and what I was interested in hearing about. > but as you say its off topic. > > neal. > > > >

Yes, I did understand that and why I kept my answers brief. > any other discussion off topic > may be taken privately to avoid irritating others. or not. whatever > anyone wants..i just didnt want to bother others in that way.. > maybe i was wrong to assume anyone would mind...so ill > push the envelope.... > > now i have a question for you... > > how do you physically remove the ego? or remove the barriers > caused by it? It is not something I know by direct experience. To keep it very simple, it is achieved by taking a person/initiate/trainee to the point of facing their own imminent death and then a little beyond to the point of acceptance. So it is a physical means of bringing about the psychological change. Nothing is removed as such, there is no-thing to remove, the ego would be better described as a process. > > i only know the psychological ways... > > thanks > anna > I wonder how long it would take with many many people on an email list, throwing raw food at one? neal.
