Guest guest
ok,,,i was gonna be 100% but ...big but...but im glad it happened....cuz of what i learned.... i had a bagged salad with low cal dressing,,i didnt think about the dressing...thought, lo cal.. so what,,this wont matter...what could it hurt, ive barely eaten in 2 days.... within 30min of eating the salad....i had an OVERWHELMING desire to EAT... and i dont mean have a little somethin somethin..i mean i wanted SOMETHING....big, heavy, gutt filling!!....it was so strong i ALMOST broke into the milk and wheat cereal that i havent thrown away yet.....(i cant eat that...and dont under normal circumstances even consider it because of how badly it affects me, i just havent gotten around to throwing it out)... this is IMPOSSIBLE....i dont want this stuff normally....this craving was BIZARRE... even during pms... i have barely eaten in 2 days, and i felt fine....a little hunger..nothing more...why would i all of a sudden,,and it was sudden...want this crap? - i didnt eat it..its really poison for me.. but i sure wanted to....like i was possessed or something.. so i went to the ingredient list on the bag....son of a b-tch 3rd ingredient MSG! people this isnt funny..this stuff doesnt just pique your palate...there was a bonafide DRAW to STUFF my face!!! ive had only watermelon for 2 days and i didnt want any other food....i was ready to blow even my basic food " allergy " rules let alone raw food rules... if i hadnt of noticed how extreme the shift in my mood was and how sudden it was, i would have eaten it....it just struck me as totally not myself...so i just said NO and went to the trash to read the ingredients.. but finding out the craving was *artificial *and was *chemical* just opened up a whole new view of things for me.... this stuff is a drug. with an absolute purpose. just like that article said....i will never again consume anything that could potentially have that sh*t....ive just become obsessive compulsive.! i wouldnt go to the trouble of posting something like this if my sense of reality wasnt just seriously shaken..ive never experienced anything like this... i feel like i just saw a ghost. you guys dont have to believe me, you can experiment on yourselves, as awful as that sounds...but this is serious...you guys need to know.. -- Anna " A fool can not understand wisdom even if he associates with a sage. Guest guest
- Anna Bishop >i had a bagged salad with low cal dressing,,i didnt think about the dressing...thought, lo cal.. so what,,this wont matter...what could it hurt, ive barely eaten in 2 days.... within 30min of eating the salad....i had an OVERWHELMING desire to EAT... >so i went to the ingredient list on the bag....son of a b-tch 3rd >ingredient MSG! Thanks for sharing this, Anna, I'm more than happy to learn from your experience! I -think- not certain, but I vaguely recall hearing about 15 years ago that MSG had been outlawed in Australia. I could be wrong, but there was a big song and dance about how bad it was, and how most chinese food has it in it, and so on. So not sure if I can blame my cravings on that, hehe. I have a basic " rule " , implemented a few months ago, that I don't buy anything packaged, or if I must, I read the label first (can't remember if you have it in the US, but here packaged food has to have a nutrition label, as well as ingredients, stating how much fat, protein, carbs, any vitamins or minerals, including sodium, etc), and if it's got a number I put it back. I vaguely recall reading or hearing somewhere recently, that MSG is derived from a chemical found in apples, so they often list it as " natural flavouring " (can't cite a source, it could have been here or foodlab, or one of the online sources I've been studying). So now I just don't get anything packaged, except our raw almonds. Unfortunately, my parents aren't as picky. Caron
Guest guest
yes we have those labels too,,but i never worried about msg.. this gives a whole new spin to why were hungry 1hr after eating chinese food....people joke that its cuz its so high in carbs..fresh veggies, etc..thats not it at all is it..... does anyone remember that red shaker bottle of stuff called " Accent " that was out in the 70s? that was pure shakable msg..it was taken off the market..but i remember it....it tasted like salt,,those sob's tried to have us use it on our own home cooked food!!!! i am so freaked out right now, i cant tell you....i HATE feeling out of control...and that stuff made my thinking change!! i might as well have been a meth addict for the pull of it...this is not acceptable. this would have gone unnoticed if i hadnt of eaten so clean for that last 2 days... if anyone else has this experience, let us know how you feel during the process... thx anna On 6/12/07, Caron <carongroups wrote: > > > - > Anna Bishop > >i had a bagged salad with low cal dressing,,i didnt think about the > dressing...thought, lo cal.. > so what,,this wont matter...what could it hurt, ive barely eaten in 2 > days.... > > within 30min of eating the salad....i had an OVERWHELMING desire to EAT... > >so i went to the ingredient list on the bag....son of a b-tch 3rd > >ingredient > MSG! > > Thanks for sharing this, Anna, I'm more than happy to learn from your > experience! Guest guest
I think Accent was out even in the 90s wasn't it? I had this happen with sugar quite a few times when I went vegan/no sugar (not yet raw) If I bought something w/o reading the label I wouldn't think anything of it until I got very hungry about 1/2 later. It was then I realized my eating habits were way more physiological than psychological - that was good. The bad part was the detox. For me it was any chemical but mostly sugar (even " natural " ) or sugar substitute. I eventually learned that it took 3 days for me to no longer feel the effects. I also learned to read every label and bring lots of food to parties. Guest guest
its still out!?......wow yes....after talking to my friend whos premed..degreed in physiology and all that...she confirms that msg does indeed cause the pancreas to triple its release of insulin... and that some people are more sensitive than others.... That would be me....had i not by accident been clean for 3 days before trying i might never have isolated it.....one of those defining moments for me....been 100% since... anna On 6/14/07, jeannieh h <jeannieh99 wrote: > " does anyone remember that red shaker bottle of stuff called " Accent " that > was out in the 70s? that was pure shakable msg..it was taken off the > market..but i remember it....it tasted like salt,,those sob's tried to have > us use it on our own home cooked food!!!!
