Re: thank you was: [Raw Food] Principle for Vibrant Living: Doing

Our Best (WAS: A painful lesson)

Good points, all. I think you're right, it would help if there was more

information available about how to make an emergency call, and what

information one should be prepared to give. One question they ask here is

what the nearest crossroad is, ie names of streets, and a lot of people have

no idea. I really do think it's terrible that 911 dispatchers are dragged

over the coals on the news, when the time could be better spent informing

people of how such mistakes could be avoided. Here we're taught as children

just to make the call if there's an emergency, and answer any and all

questions, and do exactly what the person tells us to do. It's a shame those

instructions and more aren't reinforced for adults.

im all over it.

you would be amazed at the variables of using a phone when calling 911.

for example....on a landline 911 gets your local police or sheriffs office.

on a cell you get the highway patrol, but gps is changing that so it

can go to local pd or sd. But instead of your address which shows on a

landline, it shows the location of the nearest cell tower.

this is useless for finding someone by the way...

call from a centrex system, like a main phone bank at an office or

bank and the address shown is the main office...NOT the location

calling. Also useless when youre in a bank robbery.

call on a cell without knowing where you are - exactly - and you ARE

sol..we cant help you.

call 911 on voip and youll get a voip operator that has to transfer

you - thus delaying help- they are trying to update this so voip comes

to us directly..but not perfect yet.

get the picture?

there is nothing simple about calling 911..people just assume it is

because WE make is LOOK simple....

peace

this is why the public gets angry when we ask where they are and try

to verify their address.

the location on the screen HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHERE YOU ACTUALLY ARE.

AND WHERE YOU ARE IS NOT ALWAYS WHERE THE EMERGENCY IS OCCURRING.

but what happens?

the uninformed public gets pissed that we ask for accurate

locations...and yell " YOU ALREADY HAVE THAT ON YOUR SCREEN!! JUST GET

SOMEBODY HERE!! "

we do? The 911 screen is NOT a crystal ball.

if you are asked a question by 911..answer the question. Dont pretend

you know the answer and tell us how we dont know what were doing.

and by the way...when you move..it can take phone co. 30 days to

reflect that on the screen. Soooo....we could be sending cops or

medics to your old address...

IF we dont verify....so we ask....where are you calling from...where

is the emergency...please just answer the question.

If anyone ever observes that I can't talk, please call 9-1-1 immediately,

and tell them to send over dinner pronto!

lol,

$19.95 seems reasonable for a free audio program. Why it's less than 20

bucks!!! Appeals to my compulsive spending budget.

me wonders.......how much handling does a free audio program require??

2. If you cannot find these instructions, return to step #1. Otherwise,

continue ...

3. Find a telephone that is presently working and connected to the phone

system. If you are uncertain, please review our PHone Connection

4. If you cannot find a telephone that is presently working and connected to

the phone system, run like hell. Otherwise, continue ...

5. Examine the phone.

5.1 If the phone has a handset, left the handset and continue.

5.2 If not, you are SOL, run like hell.

6. Yell the following into the phone: " HEEEEEEELLLLLP!!!
