Guest guest
Okay you guys. I have made a big decision. I am going to start taking this seriously. I can feel a HUGE difference between my body's response to raw foods and it's response to SAD...and it is enough to push me to the point of doing something drastic. I know I've talked about it before, but I really think that I am one of those individuals who is not going to be able to transition to a raw food diet, but rather, am one who will have to jump right into it. I cannot continue to compromise my health and my spirit because something else is easier to do. We've talked about my stress at work....it ties into this as well. I need to start making my well-being a priority. I realize it's not going to be an easy road, but it WILL be worthwhile. Basically I need to share this with people who will understand. My husband, as supportive as he is, thinks I'm a nut If everyone could do this one thing for me, It would really help me out. Give out your number one piece of advice, or tip, whatever would have helped you starting out. Or that's helped you maintain. Please? Thanks so much for the support..... ~Kerri

Guest guest
Hi Anna, I just posted two posts about an hour and a half ago, and neither of them have appeared! Is there a period of time that goes by before the owner allows your post to go on the website? I did get a box that said, " Your post needs to be approved by the moderator before it will be sent to the group. " or something like that. I don't usually get monitored on any of my other groups. I was just wondering if this is normal for this group, since you post a lot, I thought you might know! Guest guest
Kerri, I'm happy to see another person venturing into the world of raw. Welcome to the best lifestyle there is. I have to say that for me it has not been an easy journey, but it has been the best journey I could have found. I have decided that what has worked for me is to borrow the AA mantra " one day at a time " . This is how I approach this lifestyle and now I am approaching my 3rd.month of 100% raw. YAY!! I had tried it a few times before and failed because I thought I could just " dive in " and I was not ready, though I thought I was. I am a compulsive eater, I am a food addict. I don't think I will ever loose my taste for sad. I love to eat. I need to have food available to me at all times. What I have done is decided that getting rid of bad habits doesn't work for me long term. What is working for me is that I've added some good habits. I have had to get rid of all sad in my house. I have replaced it with nothing but raw. My fridge is filled with fruits and veggies. If I am hungry or feel the need to eat...I am never far away from a very tasty salad, with lots of good fresh veggies in it. I have all the kitchen toys from loving to cook. I have a vita mix, a magic bullet, the best costco knives money can buy and a couple of beautiful butcher block cutting boards. I am eating high volume but it is good quality food. Just like alcohol is bad for an alcoholic, sad is bad for me. It is like poison for me because it is ruining my health. I have hypothyroid disease, I don't metabolize food like normal people. I am pre-diabetic, and I have high blood pressure. I suffer with depression, morbid obesity. Bottom line. I am screwed. lol That is why I am looking to this wonderful lifestyle to loose weight and improve my health. I know this journey is going to be a constant work in progress and I am comitted to doing the best I can to make this a permanent lifestyle. I know that I might " fall of the wagon " here and there. While I hope I do not, reality tells me I might. I have to learn to just " get back on the wagon " . I deserve to be healthy. I have to say that I feel so much better about myself while I'm on raw. I am trying to learn as much as I can so I can make better decisions. Make better choices. My husband did not " sign on " to do the raw lifestyle with me. He thought it was another one of my " fad " diet stints. There is no diet I haven't tried. I asked him to indulge me in this as I was desperate to loose weight. I had gotten to the biggest size ever and I was in a bad place mentally. He did agree to try to be supportive about it. I was still cooking his steaks but not eating them. It was so hard for me. He eventually decided it was too hard for me to cook sad for him and not eat it so he said he would eat his sad outside and eat salads with me at home. YAY!! The funny thing is, now he is loosing weight like crazy and is LIKING this raw style of eating.!! Mr. Steak and potatoes man is eating salads every day!! Now he will eat an occasional sad food on the way home but he is about I'd say, 90% raw, which for me is a miracle. While the weight on my scale is not moving as much as my dh, my clothes are fitting better so I feel I'm loosing inches if not weight. I'd say hang in there and just take it one day at a time, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! Learn as much as you can. Education is key. It helps to have these groups full of nice, friendly, sympathetic people to share with on a daily basis. Sincerely, Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. kerri <twinkles457 rawfood Sunday, June 17, 2007 8:17:31 PM [Raw Food] Cracking down..... Jeannie, I respectfully suggest you look a little closer. You say your body tells you, how does it do this. What language does it use? How do you know you are getting the correct message? Aren't you really saying that some physical feeling gets interpreted in the mind, appearing as thoughts? Thoughts as words telling you these stories about eating? How do you know the message isn't " there is something wrong with the body, it is craving poison, take action. " ? the body is roughly seven eighths of our 'human being', yet we only seem to listen to our heads. neal.
Guest guest
your body is you. its no one else. your mind is in charge of your body. i know that people are telling you to listen to your body, but theyre putting the cart before the horse,,,youre not at a position yet where your body is being honest..its addicted...it lies... when you are healthier and the chemicals are in check, you can listen to your body but right now its the chemicals talking,,they want more chemicals.... we dont mean to confuse you, we probably are doing just that....but think about it. youre saying your body is telling you to eat badly....it probably is..when you DECIDE not to..and clean out...your natural responses will kick in and you can trust it..but not yet..not yet..! use your mind, it knows better *right now*....your logic centers KNOW that the burger youre craving is bad...listen to that NOW.... later you can listen to your tummy... we are trying to help you cure something that is extremely difficult to get a handle on. food addiction is extremely complicated and we arent shrinks out here,,were only people that have gone thru it....in the end YOU have to do it YOURSELF. we cant do it for you. there are support groups out there that could help you with the deeper stuff...try them... do as much as you can do to help yourself...this is totally doable...you can do it...but you have to WANT to.... peace anna On 6/18/07, jeannieh h <jeannieh99 wrote: > > This doesn't seem to work for me. Guest guest
The big secret for me is to take advantage of my disinclination to wastefulness. So, I crowd it out, all the bad stuff that is, by loading the house with fruits and veggies, such that I have to eat them first, lest they go bad. As junk food is often more shelf-stable, it gets to sit there without guilt of wasting it. (Eventually, as the expiration dates approach, these items end up on the freebie table at work.) Hope this helps, -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog/vegan-done-light.html rawfood , " kerri " <twinkles457 wrote: > > Okay you guys. I have made a big decision. Guest guest
Jeannie, It is just a guess but i probably is not your body telling youto stop at those drive throughs that is just your mind telling you that. jeannieh h <jeannieh99 wrote: This doesn't seem to work for me. Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Love Food Lane <lovefoodlaughter rawfood Monday, June 18, 2007 8:14:12 AM [Raw Food] Re: Cracking down.....
