Guest guest
I can't believe you can go so long without eating!!! I can't and I feel like a cow grazing LOL!!! Today is my first day of 100% raw again. I was doing it for a while and then stopped, but I can't seem to remember when. Anyway, I eat small snacks and no big meals all day with my daughter. I would love to be able to go for a few hours without eating. I'm sure it will happen in the next few months as I clean out my system again. Guest guest
Victoria Botinko of Raw Family fame, seems to have popularized green smoothies as a way to get enough greens in one's diet. She recommends it daily. If you read her story her family had hit a wall health wise at about 5 years raw. She discovered that they weren't eating enough greens. In fact, the didn't like greens. So the green smoothie was a way to get the dark greens into the diet. If you love greens, I don't think they're necessary. Though you can blend a whole bunch of kale into a banana-apple smoothie and drink it, where it might be difficult to eat that much kale in one meal or day. Mixing the fruit and greens are ok. The bigger issue are what fruits are you combining. Best to not combine sweet with acid. For instance not to combine banana and orange. But Banana-apple or banana-mango, etc. would be ok. The bigger question is whether your body can digest the combination. Does it produce gas or any other symptom of poor digestion. If so, find a combination that it can digest - probably one fruit only plus the greens. I drink them occasionally, a couple a week. We use them at the retreat to get large quantities of greens into people who don't like greens and have never included greens in their diet. ..wyn The Raw Retreat www.therawretreat.com rawfood , " tesser2u " <tesser2u wrote: > > > Does anyone do much in the way of " green smoothies " ? Guest guest
Every food combining chart I've ever seen says apples are sub-acid. By taste I'd say they are sub-acid. And for me they digest fine with either bananas or oranges, but not both. By taste I'd say strawberries - maybe all berries - are in the middle - kinda acid and sub-acid. I use the charts as a starting point, then listen to my digestion, etc. ..wyn The Raw Retreat http://TheRawRetreat.com o) 888.EAT.RAW4LIFE f) 877.236.6999
Guest guest
leafy greens are considered different than vegetables. still, blending is easier on the digestion, especially with a vitamix, so it tears down the cellulose and almost creates a new blended food. eating fruit with salad, non-blended and with more than just leafy greens, is considered to be poor food combining in general. of course, there are no major medical studies on this ( any of this natural health stuff, overall, really), so it's kind of an issue of common sense. but the food combining is based on science, the enzymes utilized for the digestion of those foods. Guest guest
I drink a green smoothie 3-4 days a week, on average. Some weeks it's more. It has a head of romaine lettuce, 4-5 stalks of kale, 1 lemon, 1-2 apples (depends on how sweet you like it), and a little bit of ginger (this is the sole reason I cannot give up the ginger- it makes this drink borderline addictive). My favorite thing about this smoothie is that it really gives me a lot of energy- I've been able to replace my lattes with this with no problem at all. Except that I still get lattes as a treat, every once in a while. Of course, now they are made with almond milk and organic shade-grown fair-trade coffee, and green and black cocoa Wow...if I hadn't just eaten dinner, I would probably go make one of those right now! ______________________________\ ____ Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell. http://searchmarketing./

Guest guest
Hi Jeannie, I think that School Of Rawk meant when he/she posted that leay greens although vegetables are different-easier to mix in and digest than say broccoli I think you have to have a vitamix or the like to really get the smotthies smooth. I don't have one either but just mix up a smoothie in my blendee sometimes not every morning. Emrawfood , jeannieh h <jeannieh99 wrote: > > Em, > > I thought leafy greens WERE vegetables.
