Hello I have been enjoying your group. I have read alot and now

wonder what your take on coffee is? Not bean coffee though. I

changed about 2 months ago to Teechino (herbal coffee). Actually I

haven't read anything on tea as well. By brewing the leaves is that

against " raw " ?

Call me naive I'm sorry, but I am very new at this. I am in

transition if you will. It isn't easy. But each time I try

something new I really like it. I'd say my family is vegitarian

(inc. 3 girls under 12), but they are not taking to Raw very well.

If we can get them to Vegan I think were doing well.

Anyways, thanks for all of your input and I look forward to what you

think on this. I do love coffee, and am experimenting with creamer

to get my sweet cream to a flavor I like(I must share I did say no

to Starbucks for a few weeks now and I am very happy about that)!

My name is also Anna so I'll go by Zgirls to keep from mixing up.

Teechino is made of carob, barley, chicory root, dates, almonds,

natural mocha and cocoa (this one is mocha flavor).

You brew it just like coffee and it smells and taste great with no

caffeine. It even tells you how to kick to habbit.

I go back and forth from caffeine because of migraines, but I seem to

not crave it so much now. This is a good thing.

I found it at " Sprouts " our local health food store.

Thanks for your response.

The diet also helped me to stop eating those dark chocolate organic

earth balls every night!!! I never thought I would get rid of that

habit, but I did.

I feel so much better on this diet, and it is such a relief not

to be addicted to that morning cup of coffee.

I personally love coffee. I don't have much of it

when the weather is warm (although I may have one

chilled latte every couple of weeks), but in the

winter I have it more frequently. I used to work at

starbucks, and at a different coffee shop, so I even

know all the yummy recipes!!! :)

I think for now, I will just keep coffee as a

treat...I had to do that for a while b/c of finances,

I only got a latte on payday...then my husband bought

me my own machine, so now it's more economical, but I

still think it should be a treat. Of course, we'll

see how I do when the Kansas winter approaches....

I hate being cold!

I also used to love coffee - I was in IT/Computer fields for a while

and it goes w/the territory so to speak... anyway at one stage of my

getting healthier growth, I decided to process my 'need' for coffee.

I began to just notice where I was, what I was thinking when I

reached for a cup or took the extra trip to a coffee shop or

whatever. That led to my thinking about what I thought during those

times - I eventually (not quickly mind you, this probly took a year,

I wasn't anxious to give up my coffee) realized that I wanted the

warm. I wasn't about the coffee itself - after some trial and error

experimentation, it wasn't about just warm or warm water or lemon tea

or something might have worked - for me it was about warm milk. I

eventually chose to switch from milk to soy milk and then to almond

milk and then to home made sunflower or nut milks and eventually took

the warm away and went with room temperature - now I don't even like

milky drinks - Although, if I get one of those moments I'll make

myself a room temp banana milk (thats 1 banana in the blender with a

cup or more of water) and it does the trick.

I also did deal w/the emotional thing that I possibly had connected

with the warm milk issue - I reconnected with my mother and when we

discussed food and this issue she was able to give me more info on

the fact that she very seldom held me when I was young, she always

felt guilty about it although she said I was very content and happy

until I was about 3 so she didn't worry too much. Just knowing that

seemed to take the needs away - I hug myself, ask for hugs from

friends and get emotional hugs through the phone line now...

Just some thoughts on my coffee challenges and changes... Oh and I

don't miss it anymore - tho I do enjoy sniffing the beans at Whole

Foods or when I walk past the 'millions' of Starbucks in NYC!

Have a great day,

Simply,

Lesa
