Guest guest
Ah the joys of ethical obligations! Seriously, though....we have situations similar to this in the system I work in....we are expected to protect children and place them in homes that will meet all of their needs, and sometimes that doesn't happen. We are held responsible if a child doesn't get into therapy (even if it is the home's fault for not taking themd) and then acts out in some way that harms themselves or others....we are held responsible if we place a child in a relative home and the abuse continues- just from a different perp.....no fair. So many of these people are very manipulative, and can pass background checks and home interviews...it's only when a kid confides in their worker or in their therapist that was find out about some of the monsters in their families..... Anyway, same thing applies here. So many times we are not given enough information to make the BEST decision, and yet the families themselves will blame us. Who is really to blame? That was a nice little rant, huh? Thanks for listening! -k ______________________________\ ____ Get the free toolbar and rest assured with the added security of spyware protection. http://new.toolbar./toolbar/features/norton/index.php
Guest guest
ranting is good! gets it out... they blame you because they can...blaming the idiot family members is like blaming the stupid for being stupid....they are not held accountable, they are the suspects and victims.. if they *were* accountable, they wouldnt be.. so the standard is held high for *you*...since youre the rescuer...and you are supposed to know better... ofcourse that goes back to my comment about expecting us to be psychic... the public is always wanting to blame the people in the system....easier than blaming themselves...the true culprits. i just look at it as job security. if the public got smart, there wouldnt be so many victims, and id be out of a job. if the criminal stopped commiting crime, id be out of a job...so it works for me... peace anna On 6/19/07, Kerri Myers <twinkles457 wrote: > > Ah the joys of ethical obligations! > > Seriously, though....we have situations similar to > this in the system I work in....we are expected to > protect children and place them in homes that will > meet all of their needs, and sometimes that doesn't > happen. Guest guest
that is one good thing about being a licensed social worker....job security is unquestionable. the flip side of that is that so many positions are funded by grants...which can be transferred to a different agency/program at any time. then again....you can always get a job with the other agency. fun times! ______________________________\ ____ Need a vacation?
