Guest guest
Yes, it is still almost entirely sodium chloride. It just has other minerals in the mix, that's all. Neal, I promise you, if you were ever willing to try going without for awhile, then try going back, you'd surprise yourself. This is not salt as you know it, i.e. sodium chloride. I've been using it for about 6 or 7 years now, use it liberally and have never had bp problems. But read the article, it is very informative. http://www.regenera <http://www.regenerativenutrition.com/content.asp?id=30> tivenutrition.com/content.asp?id=30 neal. Which is why I posted the link to the informative article. The importance is that the minerals are in natural balance and almost exactly match the 'inner seas' of our bodily cells. And recent research I've read has shown that the early seas on earth do exactly match the cellular fluid of our bodies, todays seas being much more concentrated. Thanks but I'm doing fine. neal. Guest guest
I put salt on everything. I just think it brings out the flavors of foods. Food with out salt tastes bland to me. What about Mrs.dash? What seasonings are ok to use on foods? What about sea salt? It's natural. How else can one season foods? I guess I should try the 60 day abstention of salt. I don't know if I could make it though. Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Then eat a small amount of salt ... straight, as you first " food " of the day. You'll never have any questions about salt again if you try this experiment. Salt is extremely habituating, because in any quantity at all, it overwhelms our sense of taste (sort of knocks out the rest of the taste buds), and we start seeking the one taste we can still fully taste ... salt. The correct amount in a healthful human diet is zero. We DO need sodium ... sodium ions on solution in water ... and we get these by eating high water-content foods. What about Mrs.dash? What seasonings >are ok to use on foods? There are occasions when I like the taste of salt - I grew up on the coast, spend half my time in salt water, so living inland, even a little way, makes me crave salt. I usually get most of my salt from food, but the last few days on only fruit has made me crave it. I have a small container of celtic sea salt in the cupboard, and if the cravings get really bad, and food doesn't help, I'll take a grain of salt and let it dissolve in my mouth, and that pretty much kills them. Worked last night, when I was about ready to call for pizza. I could never have salt on fruit though - fruit is so sweet and yummy, salt would just kill it I think. Even regular cooked meals I prefer to eat without salt - roast pumpkin tastes like caramel if it's cooked properly. My stepdad is one who will sit at the table, and before picking up his knife and fork, will go for the salt, pepper, and sauce, blegh. Even on a stirfry, or something that's already cooked with sauces or spices. Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of spice or herbs on things, for a different flavour, but fruit, and even salad, has its own flavour, if you give it a chance, and taste it on its own. No, it won't taste like salt, it'll taste like fruit, or salad, or whatever you're eating. You get a lot more variety by letting the foods taste how they taste without adding extras. I've never had salad dressing, except for on a caesar salad once. Do the 60 days without salt, you CAN do it, you know you can ;o) This is my 3rd day 100% raw, and if I can walk past not one, but FOUR fast food joints without stopping to feed my cravings, like I did yesterday, you can do the salt thing. Now I just need to see if I can get through the family dinner tonight without caving... Caron

Guest guest
I understand, Jeannie. Still if you try it, you'll be amazed at what you experience. And you won't likely need anyone's input on this topic again. Guest guest
Caron, You are my inspiration. I am going to try the 60 day thing but first I will try it for today only. If I can get through today then I will try again tomorrow...so on & so on. I know the salt on the fruit thing sounds gross to many people. I got it from some hispanic friends, they salt alot of fruit in Mexico. They sell fruit on the corner of the street...they will put salt and/or chile powder on it. lol I guess it shows just how much of I crave salt. I don't use celtic salt because it is so expensive. I use plain salt or sea salt. I am guilty of puting salt on things before tasting sometimes, but usually I will taste before salting, but since I am the cook around here, I salt alot while cooking. Now that I'm 100% raw now, I use salt alot to enhance the flavors of the raw food. Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one.
