Guest guest
Elchanan, I'm doing it today! YAY!! I reached for the salt when I was preparing my salad.....but....I put the salt back. lol I am eating my salad with only raw apple cider vinegar. yippie....tastes strange I'll admit but I'm not going to put salt on anything today. What other seasonings can I use??? Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Elchanan <Elchanan rawfood Wednesday, June 20, 2007 4:14:52 AM RE: [Raw Food] salt I understand, Jeannie. Still if you try it, you'll be amazed at what you experience. And you won't likely need anyone's input on this topic again. Elchanan _____ rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of jeannieh h Tuesday, June 19, 2007 7:30 PM rawfood Re: [Raw Food] salt I put salt on everything. I just think it brings out the flavors of foods. Food with out salt tastes bland to me. What about Mrs.dash? What seasonings are ok to use on foods? What about sea salt? It's natural. How else can one season foods? I guess I should try the 60 day abstention of salt. I don't know if I could make it though. Jeannie
Guest guest
Congratulations Jeannie, you're off to a great experiment. When we try things out for ourselves, we create our own learning, which we deeply trust. One approach is to let go of all condiments, as you feel ready. I don't use any ... I prefer to taste the foods themselves. Elchanan _____ rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of jeannieh h Wednesday, June 20, 2007 1:26 PM rawfood Re: [Raw Food] salt Elchanan, I'm doing it today! YAY!! I saw a post that suggested you did, well done ) >I know the salt on the fruit thing sounds gross to many people. I got it >from some hispanic friends, they salt alot of fruit in Mexico. Mum told me my stepdad puts sugar on bananas! I could never eat snails either ;o) >I don't use celtic salt because it is so expensive. I use plain salt or sea >salt. I am guilty of puting salt on things before tasting sometimes, but >usually I will taste before salting, but since I am the cook around here, I >salt alot while cooking. Now that I'm 100% raw now, I use salt alot to enhance the flavors of the raw food. Could the expense of the celtic sea salt be an incentive to use less? ;o) I did notice while I was in the States that a lot of people cook with a lot of salt and sugar there. We tend to cook with water, and add condiments later. I must say, I do love hot chips (fries) with salt. Potatoes in general taste better with a bit of salt, but I'd even come to be able to eat them without, before I gave them up a few years ago. Things will taste different without salt, but it's not a bad taste. Just different ) Caron
Guest guest
Elchanan, I have to be honest with you. I did my salad and ate it with no salt. I only used some Mrs. Dash. I have to tell you I didn't enjoy it as much as I did last night when I used my salt freely. :-( Are you telling me that you never use ANY seasonings at all???? How in the world could that be? Salt, ok, I understand, HOWEVER, what is wrong with other seasonings?? Just to enhance the taste of foods? Are my tastebuds just spoiled? I used lemon and evoo on my salad...the lemon taste was too acidic without the salt to temper it. How long have you been salt and season-less in your eating? Do you ever eat pickles or olives?
