Hi Jeannie,

Thank you for this very touching and insightful inquiry.

There is a difference between a sense of aloneness and a feeling of

loneliness. At different times in my life, I have experienced the depths of

both. Nowadays, what I sometimes wish I had more of is one or two people,

physically present where I am, to create with, to bring some of my vision to

life a bit more rapidly. That will come .... patience, as I have said to

others, I apply also to myself.

With respect to my views, lifestyle, etc., it's funny really ... one friend

once said of me that she had never met anyone who lived so outside the

world, yet so inside it at the same time. In terms of law,

citizenship/political status, money and credit, work, food, so many areas of

my life, my ways do indeed appear to be rather uncommon ... but not unique

by any means. It is the integration that is unique ... the combination of

ALL the different facets of the lifestyle I've been creating for myself. For

example:

- I choose to live my life as a ministry, in service at all times. Some see

the wonderfulness in this, and others, caught in their own programming,

suspect this or that (as we've witnessed in this group).

- I choose to continue living within society, as opposed to many who become

very healthy and then move off somewhere, conducting their activities in

some remote place. For me, such a move would conflict with my sense of

service.

- I choose to honor and sanctify all life at every opportunity, and so I

don't kill the insects and the like, and I don't use any of the " anti "

products.

- I often choose to pick up trash on the ground and dispose of it. I mean,

if not I, then who?

- I choose to come face to face with myself (as I've written may times) and

to attract into my life others who choose the same. So I tend to have in my

life men and women who communicate straightforwardly and without pretense,

who do not mask themselves with scents, sprays, and the like, and so forth.

It's not that I eliminate others, it's that I attract these people, and also

that people who hang around me tend to learn and enjoy living similarly,

over time.

So as you can see, there are people to share all of these things, AND the

number of people diminishes as I add more things. That's fine with me.

Regarding your question about laundry ... salt in the wash, vinegar in the

rinse, sometimes an extra rinse. Occasionally more when needed, but that is

uncommon.

Best,

Elchanan

Elchanan,

Do you find yourself to be a " lonley " man? LOL I ask this because it seems

that your views (while sound) might be in the very minority. I am wondering

if any of your family and friends follow your views. Are you married? If so

does your dw follow your views? Children? etc...

This just blows me away....

I am curious, how do you do laundry, cleaning, etc???

So you take it to ALL areas of your life. I find it fascinating indeed.

All ears,

Jeannie

What a blessing you are too. This reminds me of the teachings of

Someone else on a different topic.

I think people have a tendency to discover their health and healthy

liveing and then move off, because it is easier than facing all those

every day that think you are strange. It is hard to stay in the

middle of folks that do not understand you are what you are about.

It is easier to blend in or get out.

I struggle with this myself. Constant conflict wears me out.

But I am working on it and the older I get the easier it gets.

Well, I am not into killing stuff either. But I did kill the tick I

got off of my head this morning. And will likely kill the next one I

or the dogs get. But I do often relocate insects rather than killing

them.

[Raw Food] Elchanan - Personal Reflections (Jeannie's inquiry)

Are you married? If so does your wife share your visions? Or are you divorced

and did your x share your visions?

I am marred. I don't have any really " friends " the really good kind. I have one

friend but I would say she is only a 50% friend.

My husband is my only friend. We are soul mates. He has adopted my raw lifestyle

about 90% because he eats what I put in front of him. lol

I agree one only needs at least 1 (maybe 2) GOOD friends in life. The rest

might just be aquaintences.

For

example:

Would you care to expand on the integration part? How do you combine

everything?

- I choose to live my life as a ministry, in service at all times. Some see

the wonderfulness in this, and others, caught in their own programming,

suspect this or that (as we've witnessed in this group).

Yes, there are always going to be the people that suspect everyone/everything.

However, I sense that somewhere deep down they are interested. I could be wrong.

lol

- I choose to continue living within society, as opposed to many who become

very healthy and then move off somewhere, conducting their activities in

some remote place. For me, such a move would conflict with my sense of

service.

I agree. You can do more to spread your lifestyle by sharing and living among

people. Like Jesus....lived among common folks. lol

- I choose to honor and sanctify all life at every opportunity, and so I

don't kill the insects and the like, and I don't use any of the " anti "

products.

A question for you. Are you a Buddist?? For some reason. I get a sense you

might be. I have killed insects, BUT I do try to avoid doing so. I am not a

killer. I do love for all of God's creations to live in peace. I just don't like

when they invade my space or food. lol I am one who will scoop up a spider

or what ever crawly thing and put it outside on many occassions.

I have loved animals all my life. I've raised dogs, cats, birds, turtles, fish.

I have a deep love and respect for all of God's creations.

I loathe all of the animosity, hate, and killing that I see people against

people commit on a daily basis. I do realize these things have existed through

out man's existance. There are indeed lovers and then there are the haters. I

'm a lover. lol

- I often choose to pick up trash on the ground and dispose of it. I mean,

if not I, then who?

I have been known to pick up a trash here and there.........I don't go around

picking up all street trash though. lol (I don't own an orange vest). At work

I do notice that people will step over a bit of trash on the floor, I am known

to pick it up.

- I choose to come face to face with myself (as I've written may times) and

to attract into my life others who choose the same. So I tend to have in my

life men and women who communicate straightforwardly and without pretense,

who do not mask themselves with scents, sprays, and the like, and so forth.

It's not that I eliminate others, it's that I attract these people, and also

that people who hang around me tend to learn and enjoy living similarly,

over time.

I am pretty straightforward, However not in your sense of the word. I do use

perfumes. (not around my husband, he is very allergic to perfumes)

I do use deodorants, but only because I can't stand my own smell when I don't. I

know that working in a setting surrounded by people one can always tell when

someone didn't use deodorant. The other day, for example, I was walking down

the hall and I said to myself..... " peeeuuuuu.......someone walked in this hall

that didn't use deodoran...the smell had LINGERED...was suspended in the hall

for all to smell. YUK. I am sorry, I don't think I will ever enjoy the smell

of armpits. I often tell my dh to please go shower. LOL I have a very

sensitive nose. It likes to smell clean. All that is not to say I don't want to

find a more " natural " way to not smell and to smell nice.

So as you can see, there are people to share all of these things, AND the

number of people diminishes as I add more things. That's fine with me.

Do you mind me asking how old you are and if your extended family agrees with

your chosen lifestyle?

Regarding your question about laundry ... salt in the wash, vinegar in the

rinse, sometimes an extra rinse. Occasionally more when needed, but that is

uncommon.

hmmmm....Interesting....salt to do laundry...........vinegar in the rinse. I

have used vinegar as an all purpose cleaner and have used it on my hair to

rinse. I have used it in laundry but only as an extra additive. Not alone.

I may have to experiment with your salt and vinegar. I'm all for trying

something at least a couple of times before saying.........yes or no. lol

Sincerely,

Jeannie

Best,

Elchanan

Jeannie-

My husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy....and I

haven't eaten red meat since I was 7. I have never

told him he wasn't allowed to eat meat- I have asked

that he not cook it if I am in the house (the smell

makes me feel sick), and he agreed. The result of

this is that he pretty much only eats meat when we go

out, or when we are visiting someone for dinner who

happened to prepare meat. He even says that now it's

a " treat " for him instead of a daily thing.

(the only exception to my " rule " is that he has these

nasty frozen burritos that he eats in a pinch, and

when we make homemade pizza, he can put pepperoni on

it)

I definitely think that letting them come to it on

their own terms is best. In fact, last night, my dh

REQUESTED shrimp with his pasta b/c he wanted

something " meaty " ......two years ago he wouldn't even

touch shrimp!

Kerri,

I agree with you, about letting them come to it on their own terms is best. My

dh is pretty much eating what I eat, which is one thing I thought he'd never do.

And he is enjoying the fact that he is loosing weight like crazy. Makes me mad

because I am not loosing like he is. darn it. For the most part he knows to eat

anything meat outside before he gets home. On occassion, like he did last night,

he will bring a steak home and ask me to cook it for him. I don't mind taking

care of his needs/wants/desires, he does plenty for me in return.
