Guest guest
(off-list-email) Hey Elchanan, I'm not sure if you have been in contact with Emily and Robert as of late? I have been in regular contact with them and have gone by and visted them after their trips abroad. It's a very humbling to wonder why some of us can sometimes have great health while ingesting just about everything and others who abide by what one would consider a " totally_raw_vegan " lifestyle have prior ailments resurrect. Thank you for coming back to this list to post again. I have been archiving the (excuse the pun) " filet-mignon " of your posts and sharing them with family members here, and in Phoenix and back in Bayridge in Brooklyn. Guest guest
Terry, I agree with you. I think it is a simple human curiosity. Over the years I have developed some great friendships from groups I have belonged to. In time after talking for awhile we exchanged pics and it just seemed to make it more of a friendship and a tad more personal. I think it is an option and not something one has to do that doesn't want to or doesn't feel comfortable. Some people are more guarded than others, I am not so much. It is not so much that it matters what the person looks like but just to get a sense of who you are chatting with. I do care if someone is 1000 pounds because from one human to another I hurt when someone is hurting, I don't like to see anyone suffer. Being 1000 pounds would be a big source of pain, whether they say that or not. Now, if he was a handsome Greek God,well...........LOL that would be cool actually. LOL I think everyone has different eyes, what is a Greek God to one person might be a GEEK God to another. So it is all relative, imho. Guest guest
Have this many people really lost their sense of connection with others? I mean, do we REALLY care that little? It's one thing to say, " I can learn from this person regardless of XXX. " It's quite another thing to say, " I don't care. " And I mean this in a sense that extends far beyond curiosity ... all the way to being fully human. Perhaps I'm reading too much into the words in this thread ... if so, I apologize in advance. But my tendency is to believe that people mean what they say ... sometimes more than they, themselves, are aware. Guest guest
I will clarify my part of this thread. What I was trying to say about not caring about rather you were 1000 lbs or a Greek God was just to say all the joking was in fun and I like talking to you regardless of what you look like. That when someone suggested a photo it wa not to jusge anyone's looks but just to put a face to a name. Does that sound better? I didn't mean at all that I don't care about you Elchanan <Elchanan wrote: Have this many people really lost their sense of connection with others? I mean, do we REALLY care that little? It's one thing to say, " I can learn from this person regardless of XXX. " It's quite another thing to say, " I don't care. " And I mean this in a sense that extends far beyond curiosity ... all the way to being fully human. Perhaps I'm reading too much into the words in this thread ... if so, I apologize in advance. But my tendency is to believe that people mean what they say ... sometimes more than they, themselves, are aware. It is human nature to want to know about someone you talk to and listen to on a regular basis instead of a faceless person in cyberspace. Guest guest
Geeze, guys. You know what? Because I have to read this every day, I must say that even I knew that this person wasn't trying to say they " don't care about you " , Elchanan, in the " rude " sense of the way that you somehow mistook it. Honestly.....this is becoming a really played out soap opera. Everybody loves each othere here and everybody doesn't care what each other looks like, that is why this is not Myspace but a community of like-MINDED individuals who share a common path. She's right: looks don't matter. We are here for the information, not the centerfolds.....

Guest guest
I understood him to be referring to the post that didn't care if he was lonely and didn't care about some other stuff about him. Only cared about the info he gave out. Kinda sounded like he is being used. Ya know?
