Guest guest
I just have to laugh because this morning I was asked this question for about the third time in the last couple months from a grocery store cashier. LOL. " Nope, " I responded, " this is all I eat. " " Oh, so you're vegetarian? " " Yes, vegan even. " So, I don't have to worry about milk or meat or anything. But, I do have to eat more in bulk to get those calories. " I didn't bother going into raw foodism or anything. -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog
Guest guest
LOL, I've had a cashier ask if a bunch of monkeys lived at our house. I replied " yep, four of them. " I typically buy 9-10 bunches of bananas, 2-3 times a week. Yesterday a different cashier asked us if we were vegetarians or something. My husband replied that we consume a plant-based diet. I shop with the family, so I haven't been questioned about the AMOUNT we purchase. The cashiers just seem amazed at all the fruits. ~Sarah --- Erin <truepatriot wrote: > I just have to laugh because this morning I was > asked this > question for about the third time in the last couple > months > from a grocery store cashier. Guest guest
Sarah, good answer ( " yes, four of them " ). And with approximately every third item comes the question, " What is this? " often followed by a few minutes trying to find it on the computer screen. LOL. Em, It's just me, but I'm still repeating this scenario two to three times a week. -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog/vegan-done-light.html rawfood , Sarah Formhals <mrsfrmhls wrote: > > LOL, I've had a cashier ask if a bunch of monkeys > lived at our house. Guest guest
We shop 2-3 times a week so you're not alone. I definitely give the cashiers a " pop quiz " in produce every time I shop. They're always trying to look up the codes for this and that... ~Sarah --- Erin <truepatriot wrote: > Sarah, good answer ( " yes, four of them " ). > > And with approximately every third item comes the > question, > " What is this? Guest guest
Sarah, I laughed when I read this. LOL I've never had a cashier ask if a bunch of monkeys lived at our house, I would first think that was rude/sarcastic but I would laugh at it and ask the cashier how many do you think I should be buying? LOL I too have a time at the register. I don't understand what kind of training goes on with cashiers these days. They don't smile much anymore, they don't know their produce. I am always having to tell the cashier what an item is. They stair at it like (duh....what is this?).... They have to scan the produce chart to find the code and/or shout to someone to tell them the code. LOL. It is amazine. I have had that happen when I bought bok choy, kholrabi, daikon, and several others that they should know. Also was I the first person to purchase these items that they " just now " came face to face with it?? Makes me think that either no one else (before me) has purchased these items or the cashier is just in " lala land " .LOL Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Guest guest
Em, I agree, I need more space in my fridge also. I can't seem to get all my vegetables to fit in there. Also I hate when my lettuce or some other produce is ruined because it was frozen in there. I don't know what the ideal setting for a fridge is so that it doesn't freeze my produce. There is nothing worse than freezer burned produce. Wasted money. Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Hi Jeannie, Because it's pretty cool during the day here, I'm able to leave my fruits and leafies out or in a cupboard, which makes them more accessable for the boy, and visible for me, so I remember to eat. My plan for when it starts to get warmer is to completely empty the fridge (I have a few bits and pieces left of my old cooked days), and turn it up so it's just cool, not icy. I have a meat compartment at the top that often freezes what's in there, so I'll turn that to normal fridge temperature, and hopefully the main part of the fridge will be warm enough not to freeze my fruit, then the crisper will be warm enough for those that don't do so well in the fridge, but that I don't want cooked in the heat we get here. My fridge is the one I got when I was living alone a few years back, and had just started getting a bit small with all the cooked meals my parents were sending in for the boy, as well as food I cooked in bulk so he wouldn't have to wait for me to prepare a meal. As it is, it should be just about perfect to fit all our fruit and veges in it, and the freezer will be used for ice cubes, and juice ice block treats, frozen bananas, and so on. I'm going to love my fridge this summer! I'm not sure what you keep in your fridge and freezer, but would a similar setup be possible? If your husband wants to keep meat, it could go in the freezer, but if it's connected to the fridge controls and isn't as cold with the fridge turned up a bit, the meat would have to be used within the week, just as if it was stored in a normal fridge. The only problem might be if you (or he) has milk in the fridge, as it needs to be stored under 4 degrees Celcius, and isn't very nice frozen.
