Hi Belinda,

Yes, I use white distilled vinegar. I get the biggest bottle I can

find at the grocery store. Since we have a softener, I use the salt

pellets from that.

Now THAT is a serious testimony. If it will get the smell of cat

urine out (is there anything stronger or more potent?) then it should

take care of anything. I am trying it. But I don't have access to

cheap celtic sea salt. For me it will have to be table salt or rock salt.

Oh and do you use white distilled vinegar?

Hi Jeannie, I easily got the smell of cat urine out of several things

using vinegar and salt. Only one item needed a rewashing, and that

did the trick. That's all I use for my laundry, now. It's made all

of our clothes much softer, too.

She should only need to wash them twice, once or twice. What's happening is

that old odor trapped under unrinsed large molecules from the detergent are

being released. Once they are out, they should be out. And any new

clothing/diapers should come out fine.

Hanging/laying in the sun is also a great suggestion.

Hi Jeannie,

You could suggest she use more of either salt or vinegar, or both.

Alternatively she could try an extra rinse either before or after the wash

cycle. Hanging the clothes in the sun will help with any staining, and the

fresh air should help with the smell too.
