Guest guest
Please be careful with your fast Lynne if you do it, and don't extend it too long. Despite all the claims that you don't lose muscle mass, only fat and toxins, on a fast, it isn't true. You DO lose a lot of muscle mass, even if you completely rest the whole time. You lose a lot of fat too though, which is fine I guess. What happens to one person on a fast is different for another, so make sure you read up lots on it before you do it. It is fun for people to play doctor and tell you to do a fast of # days, but it is a MAJOR trauma to the system, no matter how well you come out of it afterwards. I would suggest not going over 7 days. It is easy to damage your body during and after a fast, particularly if it is one longer than 7 days. Your stomach and intestines need to be reintroduced to food very carefully and slowly, and the proper type of food as well. Suprisingly, raw food IS NOT recommended after a fast, and definitely not food high in sugar, or high in anything for that matter. The best I have found for breaking a fast, as recommended by Paul Bragg, is stewed organic tomatoes, blanched quickly (with some olive oil and AC vinegar). And only that for a couple of days. Anyway, do your own research to be safe Cheers Joe
Guest guest
Joe, With all due respect, this is simply not true. Guest guest
Well that's insightful...care to share? This is my experience from REALITY. If yours is/was different, it doesn't mean my reality was imagined, just different, because we all react differently to things like this. So....right....you;re right....I DIDN't find stewed tomatoes to be a good breakfast, I DIDNT lose muscle mass on my fast, we SHOULDN't reintroduce food slowly. Thanks for helping my memory, I am glad you were there. Okay I think I get the point...your post was a joke just to get me excited haha Nice Joe rawfood , " Janet FitzGerald " <waxplanet wrote: > > Joe, > > With all due respect, this is simply not true. > > Janet > > rawfood , " Joe Postma " <joepostma@> wrote: > > Please be careful with your fast Lynne if you do it, and don't extend > it too long. > > Despite all the claims that you don't lose muscle mass, only fat and > toxins, on a fast, it isn't true. Guest guest
On the right fast you can still exercise and then you DON'T lose muscle mass. Also, I would say that in 7 days no major muscle will be lost. That is more of a concern for very long fasts. But master cleansing or 1+ gallon of fresh juice a day fasting? You can work out pretty hard and not lose muscle. But Joe's right that it's not true nobody does lose muscle on super long sedentary fasts. Food fight? Guest guest
Joe, Your recommendations about fasting merely insight fear, however your last suggestion is fine. Do some research and be safe. I can certainly agree with that. Fasting is an act of self love, a rest from digestion. Fasting allows the body to focus attention on " cleaning house " . A good place to look for information about fasting can be found at www.soilandhealth.org. Research elsewhere has led me to spiritual and religious fasting. At Soil and Health, look for Dr. Herbert Shelton's " Fasting and Sunbathing " . It is an excellent place to begin researching.
