Emotional Eating: Crossing the Line From Nutrition Into Stimulation (WAS: Bored with raw ... Becky)

Hi Becky,

How challenging ... and how common, too. The solution, however, does not lie

in foods, but in addressing the stress, causes, how you process stress, etc.

For once you turn to food as a solution to your emotional experience, you've

crossed the line from nutrition into stimulation, and you've entered upon a

slippery slope.

Would you be willing to continue the conversation, but shift the focus away

from food and toward what is really happening in your world and your

experience?

[Raw Food] Bored with raw

Anyone have any suggestions? I am getting really bored with this diet and

find myself wanting to eat out more and just craving junk food again. It

doesn't help that work has me totally stressed and I'm a notorious junkfood

junkie when I'm stressed.

I have always had this problem with stress eating. I know in my mind

that eating cookie dough and french fries won't make me feel better

and will in all likelihood make me feel sick, but knowing that

doesn't tame the beast inside me screaming for it. I can try eating

other things, but that is always on my mind and I always feel hungry,

even when I'm not, until I give in and eat whatever junk I've been

craving. I know that sometimes when you crave something it's because

you need something nutritionally that you are lacking, but I know

that cookie dough doesn't have anything in it that I need.

This got worse when I had kids because I am trying to do everything

right for them nutritionally and otherwise, so I have taken to

sneaking my junky snacks in when they are sleeping. This became a

habit so that now whenever it's naptime or bedtime I'm starving for

garbage food. It's even worse on the nights when my husband is out

because then I don't even have to feel embarassed for eating it in

front of him and I will literally gorge myself until I can hardly

move. Afterwards I feel physically and emotionally awful, but it

doesn't stop it from happening again.

I know that I'm not the only one in the world that this happens to.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Call me strange, but whenever I am stressed, worried, and/or upset,

food is the last thing I want. My appetite goes away and trying to

swallow food, is unpleasant. I pretty much stop eating at all as

nothing goes down well and nothing sets well.

I have always wished that when I was stressed my

appetite left me!
