Guest guest
Hello all, Today I casually walked into a fast food joint. I don't know what came over me. Ordered a burger, fries and coke. Half way done, I asked myself what I was doing here. Couldn't come up with a answer, It didn't even taste the same either. But I finished it all, why, I don't know. But one thing I now know is NEVER AGAIN!!! (I hope) I've read where some of you folks ate things you shouldn't have. I'm wondering what you may have done to ease the suffering, besides waiting for it to discard itself.. Lesson learned, hopefully, Harry
Guest guest
Harry It happens. Don't beat yourself up about it, but be wiser for next time (smile). We keep tonic water in the house and if there is the slightest chance of gluten contamination take at least a whole can right away. The quinine helps ease the pain, moves the gluten through the system faster and alkalinizes the body to back off the immune process. You can get the same effect with alka seltzer gold, but my personal opinion is that the tonic water tastes better. Guest guest
wow that's a great tip- i'm going to hang onto it for those occassions when i accidentally run into gluten. gosh, harry, i hope you don't get too sick. i have nightmares that i do something like you did, or ate some other gluten without realizing it. but i understand how it happens. my downfall is sugar, which wrecks my fragile system. i'll get back on chocolate again during the holidays. i'm weak, but oh my, i love it so much. , " Brenda-Lee Olson " <shalomaleichemacademy wrote: > > Harry > > It happens. Guest guest
Have you thought about trying something like 85% dark chocolate. There is some wonderful equadorian chocolate that is 70 and 85% dark chocolate (and I hate dark chocolate) which is very smooth and doesn't have the bite of the cheap stuff. It has way less sugar and a little goes a long way. If you are prepared and have this on hand, you might find you can handle it better without making yourself sick. BTW, the tonic water may help with that also because sugar acidifies the body and trying to alkalinize may help balance the problem. Just a thought. Guest guest
Thanks Brenda, Before I retired, I drove a truck and stopped wherever to eat. About a year ago I was diagnosed with CD and now trying to learn to cook and having to be gluten free also, getting to be a bit overwelming. This site has helped me alot with things, thank you all!! How I forgot everything for that moment, I will never know. But it hit me like a ton of bricks, I am feeling better now. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll get some tonic water to keep on hand, not that I'll need it, just in case Harry , " Brenda-Lee Olson " <shalomaleichemacademy wrote: > > Harry > > It happens. Guest guest
Dagoba Chocolate is a local company here where I live! :-) It's very yummy. Just thought I'd mention that it was in the paper last week because the company has been purchased by Hershey.
