Guest guest
What are the highest protein gluten-free breakfast cereals on the market? I have found some granolas that might fit the bill, but am hoping there are more options as well, especially as the healthy granolas are often not as crunchy as I would prefer. Thanks, -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog
Guest guest
You could always freshen them by retoasting in the oven on a baking sheet for a few minutes Erin. Guest guest
Although they aren't crunchy, I'd say that the quinoa flakes are probably a good bet for high protein. You cook them like oatmeal. I usually add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed to it for an extra kick. Guest guest
i use agave nectar to sweeten them, and put fruit (usually raisins) in them. i use water or rice milk as the liquid. i happen to love quinoa though. Guest guest
Yes, actually, I have done that on occasion. There are so many cold high-protein cereals out there, like Go Lean Crunch, etc. (that example may not be vegan, but there are some). However, they all contain wheat. Perhaps I am hoping for too much in asking the cereal companies to devise such in gluten-free form? Guest guest
I put various sweeteners in my quinoa flakes. Sometimes honey, sometimes brown sugar ... the ground flax gives it a nutty flavor that I like. I've not tried agave nectar in it yet, I bought some but didn't like the flavor very much. Another option for cereal is Enjoy Life brand granola. You could also put it in soy yogurt for an extra protein kick (the WholeSoy brand is yummy). I'm really starting to enjoy their products. They produce all their product without any allergens. So there's no gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish, shellfish, corn, potatoes, sulfites, sesame and casein. http://www.enjoylifefoods.com/ I've found their products are rather good. Although small, I love their bagels toasted with hummus. (another breakfast option Hope this helps some. Guest guest
You don't have to use the flakes. You can steam whole quinoa (takes about 10 minutes). The texture is better--something like Cream of Wheat, if I remember correctly. Laura G. Lara Ellis wrote: > Can you tell me what you put in them??? Guest guest
I eat Quinoa flakes with a tablespoon of real maple syrup. Sometimes I throw in cinnamon and/or raisins. Happy Eating!
