Guest guest
In Canada, if you go down to your local liquor control store, you can fill out a form for them to bring you in a case of gf beer. There is a brewery in Quebec that makes it, I hear it's very good. They ship all over Canada and even into the states. I believe there is also a brewery in the states. One may be able to obtain it with a similar method there. Please let us know what you think of it if you try it! Deborah Can anyone recommend good gluten-free beers? Thanks, -Erin . Guest guest
Personally Erin, I think that's an oxymoron (lol) but the choice is severely limited anyway. There was a post earlier about an new GF beer from a company and if you look at that message it might help. Guest guest
I had some Bard's Tale a few week's ago. I thought it was very good-dark and hearty. I'm usually a wine drinker, but I was in the mood for a beer one night and found it at Whole Foods in Wayland, MA. Very expensive, but I'd buy it again if I had a craving. Guest guest
there are a few available in the states that are made from sorgum. Busch is starting to make one too, asking a local health food store is your best bet. some people drink hard cider, ones that are made without added sugars etc. next time i go to the store i will write the names of the gf beers that are stocked here in ohio. Guest guest
I was so excited to try a gluten-free beer about a year ago available at a health food store here in Vermont. Nearly nine bucks for a six pack and it was... disappointing. It really didn't taste very beer-like! Kind of a strange, sweet molasses taste. I don't miss beer very much, but there are times when I do, so if anyone does taste a good replacement, I'd like to know, too! --- m k <rickybigthighs wrote: > there are a few available in the states that are > made from sorgum. Guest guest
Bards Tale Beer, Dragon's Gold is the one my husband likes. It's made from Whole Grain Sorghum. www.bardsbeer.com Amy - Erin Wednesday, January 17, 2007 11:22 AM gluten-free beer? Can anyone recommend good gluten-free beers? Guest guest
Bard's Tale Dragon's Gold is delicious. Uses Sorghum as some European beers I've read. Anheuser-Busch now has Redbridge that I picked up at a BevMO in CA. It's quite delicious and passes off to my husband's friends. It also uses sorghum. Guest guest
Thank you for the tip. I was able to track down a store selling Redbridge locally. It's rather good. Unfortunately, I was unable to restrain myself at this store full of good craft beers. I ended up with a few of the big bottles from the Rogue brewery in Oregon, some chocolate oatmeal stout, etc.. My celiac bloodwork had come back negative, but I do feel better not consuming my once beloved seitan, so there may be some sort of intolerance or allergy or something not picked up by the test. It would have been easy for me to avoid these extra purchases with a 100% diagnosis. This lack of a firm diagnosis I think is harder than knowing when it comes to commitment.
