Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a question about allergies. I know many of you suffer from a veriaty of them, as we do. But I have had eye problems for over 2 months now. It resembles pink eye. I went to the eye doctor and he said it was either caused by a sinus infection or an unresolved food allergy. So I went to my Doctor and she thought I had a sinus infection and put me on antibiotics. I finished those but still have the eye problem. I also went to my naturopathic Doctor, and she put me on a ton of pills for 4 weeks, and then she will do a food allergy test on me. But that is still two weeks away, and I am still having to take these horrible eye drops, and my eyes are not doing better. Have any of you suffered eye problems like pink eye with a specific food allergy? Thanks Amy
Guest guest
Hi Kim , That probably isn't far off. I had been in Mexico about 14 days when my eyes started to be a problem. They have not cleared up since. Maybe something I ate gave me worms. Anyone know how to get rid of them?? Thanks Amy - " Kim " <bearhouse5 " Amy Lovelace " <loveamy Monday, January 22, 2007 2:41 PM Re: Allergies Hi Amy, I remembered someone on another forum mentioning that they were having severe eye problems (along with a few other symptoms including itching and sneezing) and that her doctor thought it was some type of environmental allergy. She was tested for all types of allergies, including food, stopped using soaps and detergents and so on. Eventually she saw another doctor who suggested it may be intestinal worms. She thought the doctor was, in her words, " off his rocker " , but, guess what, once treated her eyes cleared up. It's a new one to me, but just a thought I'd mention it. Guest guest
Yes Amy, I get that frequently, as does my son, but it's caused by environmentals not food. It's especially bad for me in late winter and early spring when the moulds spore and certain trees (like larch and cottonwood) begin pollenation. That's a sure sign to be that I have to take some claritin and sometimes some decongestant as well. Guest guest
Is pink eye the one where your eyeball gets red and irritated or is the rim of your eye puffy and swollen? I'm forgetting. I recovered finally from a long bout of contact dermatitis on my eyelids last month (sounds like its different from what you have). Turn out I was having a reaction to my new glasses that had nickel in the frame. I got new plastic glasses and my eyes cleared right up. (that was after using lots of creams and drops and eliminating absolutely everything remotely fragranced or harsh from my skin care.) Guest guest
There is some great homeopathic remedies that will get rid of worms or parasites. I don't have the info but I know you can go to your local health food store and ask. Good luck! Kathi --- Amy Lovelace <loveamy wrote: > Hi Kim , > > That probably isn't far off. Guest guest
Pink eye is when the white of your eye gets pink, and you produce a ton of green gunk that oozes from your eyes. Really gross, and I hate not being able to open my eyes in the morning. UGG. Thanks for all the suggestions. Could be enviromental, I will have to try come clariton and see if it helps. Thanks Amy
Guest guest
That sounds very uncomfortable. I hope you find some resolution soon! Guest guest
One thing I should mention too that may have helped here (not sure how much of a part it has played in helping Sadie out since I have tried a few things at once) is that I have kept Frontline on her all year round instead of just during the warm months. She never had fleas to begin with, but just in case the occasional one bit her, I wanted to make sure that it did not happen again. -Alyssa On Behalf Of strayfeather1 Tuesday, April 10, 2007 7:29 AM Re: Feeding dogs and what they will/should eat... One of my cats used to do this too. We and the vet thought it was a food allergy but she continued no matter what we fed her although she would do it less in the summer. Since we got our 2nd cat, who pesters the 1st one, she has totally stopped licking her fur off. Maybe she was just bored and needed some distraction.
