Guest guest
Does anyone have a green product they'd recommend? Spirulina? Blue green algae? Wheatgrass? I don't know much about these things but am interested in trying one. Sierra
Guest guest
My naturopath gave me a sample of " Greens First " - she said it is the best tasting one she has come across, and very effective. The only issue is that it has a slight amount of sprouted barley. But she said most people don't even notice it and don't have a reaction to it. Guest guest
But, it isn't gluten free and not having a reaction does not mean you are not doing damage. MOST of those with CD have no " reactions " (even if a majority of those on boards do, as they tend to attract those who are more cautious in their eating). > > Re: Green products > > My naturopath gave me a sample of " Greens First " - she said > it is the best tasting one she has come across, and very > effective. Guest guest
I believe Alfalfa and Wheat grass are both GF. Kelp is a great product also. You might want to look into those products for the same effects as green combination powders K Oland <oland.k wrote: But, it isn't gluten free and not having a reaction does not mean you are not doing damage. Guest guest
I think wheat grass is from barley so it is not GF. Guest guest
Alfalfa and kelp are gf Wheat grass will depend on how it is grown and harvested (any unsprouted grain that gets into the harvest will result in not being gluten free). Of course, whether you need any of these is another issue - humans do not have a digestive system capable of digesting grass, so there are no essential nutrients in it we cannot get from a normal diet. > > I believe Alfalfa and Wheat grass are both GF. Guest guest
Wheat grass is the sprouted grass from wheat. Barley grass grows from barley grain. In theory, they would be gf, as the gluten protein is only present in the grain of these plants. However, how they are grown and harvested can result in unsprouted or partially spouted grain in the harvested grass, rendering it non-gf. Since there are alternatives, why take the chance? > > I think wheat grass is from barley so it is not GF.
Guest guest
I have a container of Barley Max. The container says it's gluten free. I got mine from www.hacres.com . However, why not go with green smoothies like the Raw Family does? http://www.rawfamily.com . They use weeds that are just as nutritious as these barley powders. I am not going to order or take anymore barley powder. I just can't trust them not juicing some grains along with the grass. I read a story of this young girl at http://www.glutensensitivity.net/cases.htm Allison't story-genetics testing, and a gluten challenge " . That is worth reading for those who think a little gluten is worth the risk. I've been gluten-free since Jan.1, 2007 Lois , " Sharon Cercone " <sharon.cercone wrote: > > My naturopath gave me a sample of " Greens First " - she said it is the best > tasting one she has come across, and very effective.
