Their website explains the process -- see: http://www.floridacrystals.com/products/ourmill/ It says it is filtered through diatomaceous earth, but I have no idea what that is (dirt, charcoal. . . ???). LOL! Guest guest
Karen, I was curious about the " diatomaceous earth " used to filter the sugar, so I went out to Webster's online dictionary, and found that diatomaceous means " consisting of or abounding in diatoms or their siliceous remains " ...and a diatom is " any of a class (Bacillariophyceae) of minute planktonic unicellular or colonial algae with silicified skeletons that form diatomite " . Sounds rather impressive, doesn't it? *LOL* I have to admit, I don't understand it.....but it sounds impressive nonetheless.
