Nicole--Since he's so ill, can you call the doctor and request an earlier

appointment? It's more than obvious that he's having a reaction, and personally

I

don't think many doctors would want such a sick little boy to suffer for so

much longer. I could be wrong, and there might be a reason I'm not aware of.

But if I were his mom, I'd want to be sure. Just a thought. I hope this is all

resolved really soon! Marilyn

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask for prayers for my son, Peter, who is only 3 yrs

old. He was placed on a gluten challenge on Monday (after being gluten

free since June of 06), and has now finally reacted and is reacting

very strongly - high fevers, severe congestion, bloating, etc.

Luckily I only agreed to having him on the gluten challenge for 10

days, so we only have 7 more days until his biopsy (for celiac

disease). It will be hard now that he is reacting to continue to give

him foods we know is making him very ill. I am hoping the vomitting

does not set in, but, a positive biopsy is what we are looking for.

Thank you,

Nicole in NM

BL--I had a biopsy, and so did three of my girls. I also had a friend whose

daughter and husband have Celiac. I have never heard of that " 10 day " thing

before. Huh. Live and learn! :) Marilyn

Even though he is having immune system reactions, for a biopsy he needs the

full 10 days to have a certitude of villi damage. It's a hard thing and one

of the reason we have never bothered with scoping. I think she said he was

to have a scope not just a blood draw.

Don't you already have enough evidence that gluten is causing him

problems? Is it really necessary to see villi damage to believe that

he has a problem? For me it wouldn't be worth it for my kid. To me

I would already have enough evidence. But that is just my

perspective. I don't need a doctor to tell me that my little boy

should not eat gluten, the evidence was already clear to me.

How about Enterolab? Can they test a 3 year old? It sure would beat

the poor little guy having to go thru this. I can totally identify!

(I'm so sorry for him!)
