Jackie Graff has a recipe for amazing coconut-based ice cream in one of her

recipe books.

There's also a book out called Vice Cream.

I, when I do, take a few ripe bananas, freeze them, then put them

through my food processor with intermittent chunks of frozen fruits

such as Trader Joes " mixed berries " and get a great ice cream, or

sorbet if that is the term.

My Samson wheatgrass juicer has an attachment for fruits etc.

Here's what I do for my ice cream fix and I LOVE ice cream, like you it is a

problem area for me but this works.

Really ripe bananas sliced and frozen

Carob powder

Almonds and/or almond butter

Agave Nectar

Young coconut and water

Put it all in a food processor, add the coconut water slowly to desired

consistency.

I absolutely love this, the more ripe the bananas the better, I let them get 80%

brown before I freeze them.

Let us know how you like it.

I don't have a recipe, but a raw foodist in Seattle wrote a book called " Vice

Cream " . The author's name is Jeff Rogers. I think I remember him saying there

was 30 raw recipes. They are all Vegan - hence the 'V' in Vice Cream.

Raw is so much easier to do if you do not try to make raw tastes like

what you have been used to eating. If you eliminate all the raw but

taste like crackers, breads, desserts, etc. it is simple to eat raw.

Hi Laura,

It really is to your liking but I usually use 2 bananas, 1 whole coconut meat,

and only about 2 teaspoons of carob and 1 tablespoon of Agave or sometimes not

at all with just a little coconut water for consistency.

Good luck with it.

Raw Ice Cream

Source: Recipezar. From David Wolfe's book " Eating for Beauty " .

6 frozen bananas

1 cup frozen blueberries

1 papaya

3 to 4 mint leaves

1. Run the bananas and blueberries through a Champion or Green Life

juicer with the solid plate in place. This will ceate a soft-serve ice

cream.

2. Add papaya pieces and garnish with mint.
