Guest guest
One of the things my husband & I decided to do in 2008 is to do 1 or 2 vegetarian meals a week. I'm still learning about it and am still somewhat clueless. ;-) Anyway, because of my other allergies, anything I cook has to be vegan and it has to be soy free. Can anyone direct me to good books to read that might be helpful. Again, pardon my cluelessness, but what do you serve with a main dish that is vegan? I have to stay away from pasta. Guest guest
What can you serve with a main dish that's vegan? Vegetables, quinoia, salad, rice, and have you tried rice pasta? I'm making an amazing vegan lasagna for tonight's new year's eve celebration with our vegan friends. It has no soy, no pine nuts, no sesame, no wheat, no gluten. It's amazing and more delicious than any cheese lasagna I've ever had in my pre-vegan life. I make a lot of one-dish meals for my vegan family. We eat a lot of mexican food, lots of Indian food, and I just got two cookbooks for Christmas on Italian Vegan cooking and Medeterranean Vegan Cooking, and I know both of these styles are really easily adapted to veganism, without soy and without gluten, as are the previously mentioned Indian and Mexican cuisines. There's a new cookbook out called Vegan and Gluten Free, or is it Gluten-Free Vegan? You can get it on Amazon. A friend just got hers and loves it. I looked through it and there wasn't one recipe I didn't want to make, so I'll probably have to get a copy of that, too. Good luck and congratulations on going vegan. Happy New Year! Guest guest
hi renee good on you for making such a positive change in your diet - positive for your health, for the animals and for our environment! there are so many great vegan cookbooks and websites out there, so even with needing to be gf and soy-free, you'll still be spoilt for choice. i've found www.fatfreevegan.com to be a wonderful source. i also love joanne stepaniak's books, and isa chandra moskowitz' (vegan with a vengeance, and the new 'veganomicon'). also 'voluptuous vegan' and 'the candle cafe cookbook'. soooo many to choose from! to avoid soy and wheat, you basically need to look for main dishes which are legume-based. as for what to serve with a main vegan dish, we often have brown rice, with a curry or with stirfried veges. quinoa is great, too, and buckwheat (not related to wheat!) is another regular for us. best wishes alice On 1 Jan 2008, at 02:30, Renee wrote: > One of the things my husband & I decided to do in 2008 is to do 1 or 2 > vegetarian meals a week. Guest guest
I would love to have your vegan lasagna recipe. My kids have been asking me to make lasagna for two months. I won't make it if I can't have it. On Mon, 31 Dec 2007 10:44:13 -0800 (PST) Nichole <ms_fausey wrote: > What can you serve with a main dish that's vegan?
