Guest guest
Hi, I would like to know what has made you get rid of the teflon coated pans. I use them and, if you have some solid useful information on reasons to not use them, I would like to learn. I cook 3 times a day for my children and husband, and if this is harmful, I would like to learn. I own 4 sizes of the teflon 'frying pans'. I use stainless steel pans for the 4 'pot' sizes. Guest guest
My sister-in-law got fibromyagia (sorry Sp?) from teflon. Years ago she had a dentist break her jaw and finally had surgery to replace part of her jaw with a teflon part. After having numerous heath issues, and much pain and suffering, she learns that teflon is banned in Canada, for replacement parts. So she had it removed and replaced with part of her ribs. She is doing so much better now. You can search on the internet, it's all over the place about the toxicity of teflon. After that happened to her, I will never go near any sort of teflon anything. ~Melanie Be smarter than spam. See how smart SpamGuard is at giving junk email the boot with the All-new Mail. Guest guest
Hi there, I had them but got rid of them when I learned that as they heat, the teflon surface emits many deadly toxins into your air and food. These are known to kill pet birds, and if they do that they can't be much better for us. Do a search for yourself or see the site: http://www.ecomall.com/greenshopping/teflon4.htm I moved to cast iron for now and use a wonderful nonstick coating on the seasoned pans. It is made from roughly 3 parts olive (or other) oil, to one part soy lecithin (or a little more), mix well and thinly coat the surface using a basting brush. Hope this helps Jen , " Nicole Gallagher " <gallaghermom wrote: > > Hi, > I would like to know what has made you get rid of the teflon coated pans. Guest guest
Thank you, Jen, this helps quite a bit! I was shocked to read the information in the article! My first response is, well, this could be a biased report. But then, my second thought is, Why take the chance! It will be expensive to replace with cast iron, but I can start using some of the stainless steel I have now.
