Guest guest
http://www.dixiediner.com/index.php?lPath=25 I just found this site. Not all their products are vegan, but they do have a lot that are, including chicken breast alternatives. I believe all their products contain soy. (Sorry to those who are soy free!) I can't wait to try these! I hope they are good!
Guest guest
Oh, wow! I used to order with Dixie Diners years ago, when we first went veg and couldn't really find much locally. But the American dollar was so high then, we could only do it once in a blue moon, as a treat. Now it's par, so I can reacquaint myself with their products. I looked for them a few months back, but couldn't remember the company name and couldn't find them. Guest guest
Glad I could help. I live in PA and it's like a time warp here! I can't find much in the way of foods. I've started ordering in bulk through mail order but can't afford to get a lot so every month I get a few things. I'm always looking for new stuff or places I never hear of! I love the shelf stable foods because they don't take up all the freezer space! I was so happy to find this site because for years I've been talking (more so complaining) that somebody should come up with meat analogs I can eat! Ask and ye shall receive! Guest guest
I've tried a pretty wide assortment of Dixie Diner products, and most of them have been a disappointment to me. They're not awful, but they all taste kind of like, well, like the kind of camping food where you reconstitute dehydrated ingredients with boiling water. Because that's essentially what they are. The only Dixie Diner product I actively liked was the soy fudge (unfortunately, contains barley malt so not really suitable for gluten-free). Also, the vegan cheese powder was okay (but contains oats that aren't certified gluten-free). The mock chicken salad I liked at first, but I quickly grew tired of the flavor. By far, the best gluten-free vegan meat analog I have found is Butler Soy Curls. Like the Dixie Diner products, these are dehydrated soy-based strips, but they are processed differently, and have far better texture and flavor. Reconstitute them briefly in broth, and use them in stir-fry -- they taste great. --Mark
Guest guest
Ends up most of the products have corn in them, so no go for me. Too bad. Also, be careful if you are using their " gluten free " and " dairy free " search engine, as some stuff is misclassified. Make sure you check the ingredients.
