A perfect religion? (was Vegan Witches)

Me again :-)

I guess as a Witch and a Vegan this is a topic I have to post a lot about. Sorry about the no of posts, people :-)

I've recently been finding myself increasingly frustrated with the attitude to Veganism (and animal rights generally) among the Witchy community. So much so that I'm considering starting my own religion, and finding like-minded people to share the ideals and beliefs with me.

What would such a religion be?

* Vegan

* Environmentally responsible

* Respectful of other faiths, beliefs, cultures

* Equality between men and women

* Representation of the Divine as both God and Goddess

* Non-consumerist (even anti-consumerist!)

* Involve yoga and regular meditation

* A lot about finding the Divine through daily actions

* A lot less ritual, a lot more *action*

What do other people on this list think? What would the 'perfect religion' be?

Hi Peter!

i constantly posted me luv fer ma earth and all her holdings and was basically told that i shouldn't look down on anyone fer their own choices hmmm... didn't think i was doing that, neva said they were wrong (tho i thought they were)

so i left don't mind fighting fer what i believe in, but don't like to waste me time with hate and zero value fer life either

Best of luck with it :-)

Personally, I think of spirituality as something which is so personal that it can only be experienced on an individual basis - I don't like the idea of *any* organised religions, as I feel they only cause trouble in the long run (no matter how honourable the intentions of the people who start them up). The term I use for this concept is "spiritual anarchy" :-)

So, I reckon that everyone who has given some thought to their spiritual outlook, who has come up with a spiritual path which is their own and by which they live already has the "perfect religion". I follow a "perfect religion", but it wouldn't be perfect for anyone other than me :-)

Well, as Gertrude Atherton said, when asked what her idea of the perfect

husband is, " none at all. " All religions, if not flawed, are filled with

believers who are, and who misintrepret the teachings and tenets of said

religion to get what they want.
