Guest guest
there were some studies on carageenan done back in the early 70's that suggested that degraded carageenan(from seaweed) can cause ulcers in the intestines..... carageenan is used as a stabilizer.... Guest guest
Well, nobody has gotten cancer from consuming products with saccharine, which I understand is completely chemical in nature. Carrageenan is made from seaweed, is it not? And what do they mean " degraded " ? Guest guest
there is little natural about saccharine i think wot you mean about saccharine being natural, is that fruits and plants produce sugars which are called sacharine(and sacharine disease, which includes the use of white flour) by officials..its not the same thing as the artificial sweetner saccharine tho... while you probably need a boat load of sacharrine to get cancer, why risk it? its a chemical produced in a lab.... if you don't want white sugar, try stevia...now, thats sweet... aspartame, saccarine, cyclamates, all give me the heebie jeebies...food like substances produced in a factory in new jersey just doesn't sound like something i'd want to ingest when carrageenan is produced fer food use, it is often "degraded". meanin, its molecular weight is changed...don't ask me why, that i don't know... anyways...degraded carrageenan has been linked to intestinal cancers and more fraggle In a message dated 3/4/03 6:44:29 PM Pacific Standard Time, veggietart writes: Well, nobody has gotten cancer from consuming products with saccharine, which I understand is completely chemical in nature. Guest guest
But wouldn't you say that carrageenan is the lesser of two evils? Saccharine is chemical through and through, but carrageenan is a natural product altered. My Silk has carrageenan in it, and it's the only chocolate soy milk I like!
