Guest guest
Has anyone on here every tried the doughnuts that Dixie Diner make? I ordered some from veganstore.co.uk. You make them yourself and there's mixture for about 36 in a bag. I just tried making a couple and they turned out like gooey stuff and did not resemble doughnuts in the slightest! lol. I am not the world's best cook... I never cook anything. Has anyone ever made vegan doughnuts before? I just went to look at Dixie Diner's website at www.dixiediner.com - looks pretty good. 'Healthy Junk Food' it says - I like that. Quite a lot of vegan stuff on there. Anyone in the US ordered from there? They're in Texas. One thing though - why do all these companies sell 'mixes'. I want ready made food! lol. While I'm here - Slipknot_Sammy - do you like Murderdolls too? Check out my zine at www.blackvelvetmagazine.com - Murderdolls were on the cover of issue 34. :-) <3 Shari Black Velvet

Guest guest
I bought the Harvest Direct veggie rib mix (Harvest Direct is a division of Dixie Diner), and they did NOT turn out well. Could be that I didn't roll the "dough" thin enough, but it's a real pain, and I'd rather buy the Gardenburger ones. If I get a rolling pin, maybe I'll try the Harvest Direct again. I've got to say I've seen the DD catalogue, and a lot of the stuff just looks unappealing. I guess so - as far as some of the more fragile food. I guess I just don't have time to cook plus I don't like cooking, so I just like throwing something in the oven or under the grill, or having it ready to eat... so it's awkward. I think some more food like vegan sausage rolls or something could be on sale via mail order. I know when I used to eat Linda McCartney ones before they stopped being vegan (or maybe before I became vegan), they were frozen in the packet, so it's not like they'd get damaged in the mail. I supposed they'd unfreeze though, which is probably why companies don't sell them. Slipknot_Sammy - yay, thanks for buying Black Velvet. :-) I guess you got it from Noise Annoys in Sheffield (great shop!). And yeah, I've been in Wheatus chat a few times but haven't had time lately. Has anyone tried buying from Lembas (www.lembas.co.uk) - a friend gave me a catalogue and it had heaps of stuff in there (not all is vegan but they do have loads of vegan stuff) but I've not bought anything from there yet. It's kind of a wholesale place so you have to buy a certain amount of each product. Looks like it has a good range though. <3 Shari Black Velvet
Guest guest
yeah, yer not gonna get a frozen meal in the mail, as it would be a puddle of rot by the time you got it(unless you paid to have it Fed Ex'ed to you in dry ice, and then you might as well go out to eat, since that would actually be cheaper... if i'm in a hurry..there is always pasta.... lembas? elf bread??? hahahahahahahh fraggle n a message dated 3/21/03 1:33:59 PM Pacific Standard Time, shari writes: I know when I used to eat Linda McCartney ones before they stopped being vegan (or maybe before I became vegan), they were frozen in the packet, so it's not like they'd get damaged in the mail. Guest guest
Tamarind Tree makes these vegan Indian meals that don't need freezing. You just drop the pouches in boiling water. I found another box meal that doesn't need freezing. It doesn't come with rice, but you could make the rice, cook up the food, and eat. I think it's called Tasty Bite, and they have vegan and vegetarian meals that say so on the box (some say vegetarian and have dairy; others say vegan). I don't know where you could mail-order them, though.
