As always, you come under your own liability for all events. Pass

the word to your friends. This is not an exclusive net-folks only

event. This is not an activist group or singles event. Note that

if you plan to attend this dinner, you can order only vegetarian

dishes, even if the restaurant serves other stuff.

If you have suggestions for future sites, please e-mail them to

. If you want to volunteer host a BAVRT dinner,

please let me know!!

#1) This month's trek

Lori graciously agreed to host this month's trek at Memo's in

Concord. She also made all arrangements in record time so that

this message can go out early (in order to accommodate for

possible email disruptions on VegInfo server this month).

"Memo's Mexican Cocina is a veg/non-veg restaurant that has some

wonderful selections for vegans! Memo's opened last October and

promptly received 5 out of 5 forks in the Contra Costa Times

restaurant review! Because the co-owner is vegetarian, he's taken

great care that the beans and rice are strictly vegetarian.

In addition, Memo's is one of the very rare restaurants in CCCounty

that offers (non-GMO) vegetarian meat substitutes. Enchiladas

filled with tofu or tasty potatoes or veg 'chicken'; sopas;

gorditas; for instance, are some of the tasty veg choices on

their menu. They're known for their freshly made masa as well

as their popular pumpkin seed mole sauce. The owners are excited

to host the BAVRT and will provide us with a special select choice

of combination plates that you'll be sure to sink your teeth into,

including a vegan dessert!"

This restaurant is only a few blocks from Concord BART station.

It is located in downtown Concord just one block from Todos Santos

Plaza. Make sure to RSVP.

#1) Move to Monterey

As some of you know, I am moving to Monterey. Got a contract there.

People have asked me about future of BAVRT. As long as people step

forward to host dinners, BAVRT can continue and flourish. So when

do YOU want to volunteer to host a dinner? ( "What is involved in

hosting a dinner?" http://www.veginfo.com/bavrt/hosting.html )

Please try to RSVP to my cell phone (408) 839-5921 this month,

as email interruptions are likely. I also have not found a place

to stay in Monterey yet. Any leads for apartments, condos, or

other rental arrangements highly appreciated. If you have a

cheap reliable commuter car that you are planning to sell,

let me know.

Any of you in the market for a FREE computer rack? I have

a 19" computer rack. Outside dimensions are around 61" height,

20.5" width and 25.5" depth. You have to arrange transportation

from Walnut Creek and lifting power. Need to act fast to get

this! I may even throw in a free rack mount computer (passive

back plane chassis).

If you are in that part of the woods (Monterey), feel free to

give me a call!

#3) Last month's trek

http://www.veginfo.com/bavrt/restaurantlist.html

David hosted an extremely successful dinner at Udupi Palace

in Berkeley last month. We had 42 people who showed up,

there were 13 cancellations and three no-shows.

The dinner started with appetizers served at our tables. There

were something like six different kinds appetizers. We were given

about two of each - more than a dozen appetizers to start our

dinner! Some people thought it was the whole dinner and many people

got full just eating them. The restaurant then brought out the

actual buffet and we all eagerly stood in line to stuff overselves

with this vegan feast.

Everybody gave incredibly high marks for the food and service

at this restaurant. We were even given a vegan dessert, as part

of the buffet! Everything was superb.
