Guest guest
Another reply, en masse :*) Firstly, I have actually noticed that my toilet behaviour has become worse. Much more *ahem* stinky farts by far, and I sometimes get the runs after I eat something which seems to have too much fibre and not enough carbos. At least I think this is what it is.... I am trying to gradually introduce more fibre (but have had massive cravings for plain white rice), but this NEVER used to happen when I was veg, or even before. Wondering.... Sweetening custard... try vanilla, maple syrup, molasses, treacle um um um I hope none of these are very un-vegan, but if they are please let me know. Not too sure about how nice it is to hurt the trees for maple syrup though. And how IS Golden syrup made? Cane sugar?... Hang on, thats bad stuff... Molasses is pretty much the waste product of the refining process, though, right? So would that be better than any of the others... getting confused now... someone help.... Obviously custard should be served as a savory dish. Also, a friend of mine (who recently became veg, at least till she feels too faint again (but I gave her the carl lewis article someone posted, and told her she should have more avocados and hommus, which made her happy...fuelling the fire...) is rather upset when I drink coke. She said she read an article that said (while coke is vegan) that the company took so much water for manufacture from wells and watering holes and such in Africa, that the locals had only the dirty muck at the bottom to drink, which was not only gross, but causing tummy upsets and illness. Anyone know about this? Right now I am off Coke too...... When she finds the article for me, I will let you guys know. Ok, I should have separated that into YES New Veggie friend, and Is Coke Evil. Sorry. Very excited. Cough meddies, has anyone tried Bonnington's Irish Moss? I don't know about the other ingredients, but I guess it would be lower on the honey list. When I was little my Nan used to put fresh lemon juice and honey in a metal egg cup and put it on the edge of the wood heater. When it was hot, she would stir it, and give it to me to sip - preferably without burning my tongue. My more modern version entails a microwave and a shot glass. ROFLMAO My friends, especially my bf (they all have me make it... it kinda has magical status since it was passed down from my nan, too think that it is much more effective than cough mixture or lozenges for a sore throat, and a cough. Surely this would be better than filling ourselves with all those chemicals, additives, and even the dreaded red colouring with cherry flavouring Bleark! And even more so if we could use organic lemons, and local honey? Why not give it a go? It isn't as if you are just having it on pancakes for brekkie. Guest guest
Chelle, vanilla extract should be vegan. Maple syrup, it depends; some companies defoam the syrup with lard (ewww). However, as I understand it, organic maple syrups do not do this. Molasses is definitely vegan--and blackstrap molasses is recommended for iron. I just don't know how I'd use it--recipes, anyone? What is treacle? I've heard nasty rumors about Coke, but sometimes a girl needs caffeine, and a glass of tea just won't do. I have cut back, though, and only drink one can a day, provided by my office. how about plain brown rice instead of white? It takes a little longer to cook, but is much better for you. danielle " You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake " --Jeanette Rankin ----Original Message Follows---- " Chelle Whitaker " <thefroggiestone Reply en masse Sat, 3 May 2003 00:51:28 +1000 (AUS Eastern Standard Time) Another reply, en masse :*) Firstly, I have actually noticed that my toilet behaviour has become worse. Guest guest
Okay, I'm replying in regards to "toilet behavior": Try eating this way for just one little week, for lunch, have a salad made of ROMAINE lettuce, (pull-off 3 leaves from the head), sprinkle kidney beans on top, (just so you know their not real kidneys, they just look like it), then add your favorite vegan dressing, and have a whole wheat roll/slice of bread with this salad---to soak up that yummy dressing. If you have this salad, especially since it's ROMAINE lettuce, you will notice that when you make b.m.'s, (that is bowel movements), they will be clean! ---To be blunt, when you poop, you won't have to wipe,---or if you do go to wipe, the toilet paper shall be clean. There, now isn't that a nice thought? It works when I do it. *This message was brought to you by: Amy >"Chelle Whitaker" > > > Reply en masse >Sat, 3 May 2003 00:51:28 +1000 (AUS Eastern Standard Time) > >Another reply, en masse :*) > >Firstly, I have actually noticed that my toilet behaviour has become worse. >Much more *ahem* stinky farts by far, and I sometimes get the runs after I >eat something which seems to have too much fibre and not enough carbos. Guest guest
Hi Tom > An extra thought: try telling the Jews (or Poles, or French., etc etc..) we > shouldn't have waged or won the war against Nazi Germany... I think the important point there is that we shouldn't have created the situation where the war was necessary in the first place. The second world war was the result of a complete pigs ear of UK & French foreign policy after the first world war, and should never have happened. Ironic that, even though we keep saying " lest we forget " , we still seem to have not learnt a thing about how to avoid wars :-( BB Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I didn't say they shouldn't - I said that they shouldn't have been allowed to come to power in the first place. Of course, if people had resisted the barbaric UK & French foreign policy after WWI, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. It is a matter of opposing the right things at the right time to prevent the need to go to war later on. For instance, now is a very good time to be opposing the moronic foreign policy of Bush & Blair, to prevent us having a major war in a few years time!
