Guest guest
child abuse eg spare the rod and spare the child, no where in the bible does it say respect your child, only respect you parents Dear Catherine, There are some sections in the Bible that speak about respecting children. Here is one ofthem: The book of Mark, (in the New Testament), chapter 10, verses 13-16: 13-Once when some mothers were bringing their children to Jesus to bless them, the disciples shooed them away, telling them not to bother him. 14-But when Jesus saw what was happening he was very much displeased with his disciples and said to them, "Let the children come to me, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as they. Don't send them away! 15-I tell you as seriously as I know how that anyone who refuses to come to God as a little child will never be allowed into his Kingdom." 16-Then he took the children into his arms and placed his hands on their heads and he blessed them. *This message was brought to you by: Amy Tired of spam? Guest guest
Okay Peter! Well, what do you think of celebrities who claim to be vegan and/or support animal rights? Such as: Alicia Silverstone, Susan Sarandon, Morrissey, Moby, and even Britney Spears. *This message was brought to you by: Amy >swpgh01 > > , >Re: Respecting children >Sat, 10 May 2003 15:05:44 GMT+01:00 > > >Amy/Catherine and all, what started off as a discusion on a branch of veganism , i.e. fruitarianism has now disintigrated into a discusion of the scriptures and holy relics/statues. whilst I would not denounce anyones beliefs, there is a time and a place for this sort of thing and I am not sure that this is the right place. Guest guest
Well, Alicia Silverstone seems supportive. My boyfriend and I watched the Genesis Awards on Animal Planet, she made an appearance, and said, " If you're vegetarian, go vegan. If you stil eat meat, give up one animal a day. Well, what do you think of celebrities who claim to be vegan and/or support animal rights? Such as: Alicia Silverstone, Susan Sarandon, Morrissey, Moby, and even Britney Spears. Well as far as I am aware Britney Spears is definately not a vegan, as for the others I only know that Moby is very vocal on the subject and supports the cause. Any celebrity that follows a vegan lifestyle and promotes the cause is ok by me. We need so called celebrities to raise the profile of veganism away from the " tree hugging - lettuce eaters " stereotype still held by some. Brian Adams is also allegedly vegan although I am sure he wears leather on occasion, if so do not pass go and do not collect £200. We don't have any rules on what can and can not be discussed - so, yes, this is an acceptable time and place for this discussion. One of the main reasons for 's existence is that most other vegan lists insist on sticking to vegan issues, whereas a lot of us here like to be able to talk about anything with other vegans. Guest guest
I believe it is okay to discuss any subject here as long as everyone is polite and sensitive to others. The subject does not have to concern veganism. Guest guest
I think that veganism in itself is somewhat of a religion and those of us with other faiths would hope that all people with the same faith would be vegan, and indeed, feel that they should be. We can dream, and hope.
