Guest guest
i have the snake goddess from knossos on my mantle piece...... Catharine, can you tell me/us more about the snake goddess? I've always loved snakes, they're so beautiful & graceful. It's such a shame they've got a bad image. I remember stroking a boa' once, it felt like a pair of satin ballet shoes.............. Guest guest
I confess I have an absolute dread of snakes and always have. However, if they leave me alone, I'll leave them alone. Guest guest
the ancient cretans worshipped the snake goddess, when the great palace/temple at knossos was excavated in the 19th century, images of the snake goddess were found throughout the site..........she is usually bronze coloured, naked from the waist upwards, in a skirt resembling a victorian long dress, and with her arms aloft holding two wriggling snakes....she looks powerful............ catherine >"simonpjones" > > >Re: Snake goddess >Fri, 16 May 2003 12:28:49 +0100 > > >- > > >Friday, May 16, 2003 11:58 AM >Re: Snake goddess > >It's a pity snakes are their not veggie. > >S > > > > i have the snake goddess from knossos on my mantle piece...... > > > > > > Catharine, can you tell me/us more about the snake goddess? > > I've always loved snakes, they're so beautiful & graceful. Guest guest
> I confess I have an absolute adoration for snakes and have always > looked for them since I was a child. Y'know - I'm completely indifferent to snakes - they've never bothered me, but I don't particularly want to have one as a pet either. I do remember when I was a child an adder got into our porch and was obviously feeling a bit cornered - that was a bit of a frightening experience! BB Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Same here. I almost stepped on an adder which was sunning itself on a stone - you should have heard me squeal (not something I'm known to do). The snake went in one direction and I went in the other. I often have nightmares about snakes!! Jo > I confess I have an absolute dread of snakes and always have.
