Guest guest
Hare Krishna is considered a cult; many adherents are allegedly brainwashed. Of course, nobody would consider fundamentalist christianity a cult, even though its members act brainwashed, its leaders beg for money and live lavishly while their worshippers go broke, and they're told that there is only one path that will lead to salvation. Guest guest
It's not so much that with me. I fully agree with the right to choose, butchoose your beliefs wisely. Don't then try to fit them in under some 'coverall' religion or banner. I believe in me. I don't need a generic name for mybeliefs. Catholicism is a cult - the word just means a group who follow a particular religion!! As for brainwashing, the really worrying one to my mind is Jehovah's Witnesses - I recently met someone through another e-mail group who had been a JW, and had chosen to leave about 8 months ago. His wife and sons left with him, but his daughters (still JWs) have been told that they must have nothing to do with him, and completely shun him. Very sad, and apparently fairly common! Guest guest
From what I see on the tv (God channel etc) this would seem to be more of a problem in America. I don't think it applies so much in the UK. Guest guest
Well, in that case, ALL religions are cults. I knew a JW when I lived in California. She was one of the snottiest people I ever had the misfortune to work with, and an idiot to boot.
