Guest guest
<< -Actually, the site does present resources on the effects of soy on asian groups.>> well, the ones I know are fine =) <<Shahara, do you rice milk because you prefer the taste or because you are cautious about soy? >> both because i prefer it, and i get enough soy with other foods. as i said, moderation and variety are very important. maybe some folks are just eating TOO MUCH soy and not enough other foods ? or alot of the Non GMO/non organic soy ? i don't know... but soy in itself has been around for a thousand years or more. (got to find my 'book of tofu') but yes, certainly if you are wary, cut it out of your diet til you do feel comfortable. then its not healthy at all, research and discussion are great ! Guest guest
I've been to a site about the darker side of soy and I don't like what I have read. I feel that I may be suffering some of the side of effects mentioned in this site (my speech has become slurred, my memory not as sharp and I search for words). The site will not convince me to do dairy, but I am seriously rethinking the soy. I was wondering if textured vegetable protien and soy are the same? Guest guest
-Well, being that one of my BAs was in anthropology, I never read any evidence of cro magnon having butter. Cro Magnon were hunters and gathers and not raising domesticated animals, which is necessary for butter making as we all know. Guest guest
Minty I don't think soya does any of this. I know there is a lot of bad press in the US concerning soya but I think it is all paid for by the beef and milk industry. The only thing it might do is suppress your thyroid but only if you have an existing problem and eat a lot of soya. I would suggest that you visit a doctor or alternative practioner concerning your symptoms. Jo > I've been to a site about the darker side of soy and I don't like > what I have read. Guest guest
Is that from the soy, or the lack of other vitamins and good stuff? Was the story saying that soy in combination with other things was bad or just plain ol' soy? I work in a tofu factory and all that i have heard about it being bad is if you get stuff that was chemically extracted as opposed to mechanically pressed out. I think most allergies and stuff only seem to come in combination with lots of sugar other bad things. do you have the link for this info? I'm curious. tracie redsaturn20 , " Heartwork " <Heartwork@b...> wrote: > Minty > > I don't think soya does any of this. Guest guest
SOME BIASED SOY FACTS FROM A TEMPEH MAKER. I KNOW ALL THE POSITIVE ONES SO I AM JUST AS BAD AS THE MILK PEOPLE, BUT FROM ANOTHER VIEW. THEY SAY: High levels of phytic acid in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting and long, slow cooking. I SAY: Tofu and Soy milk are both soaked for at least 6 hours. THEY SAY:Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body's requirement for B12. ** I SAY: Well this is just irritating. Not many of the veg. b 12 vitamans are absorbed easily. That isn't a threat. Just eat more vitamin c when you eat vegan b12 to increase absorbtion. THEY SAY: Soy foods increase the body's requirement for vitamin D. ** i SAY: to the rest of this, i say WHAT THE FUCK DOES MEAT FULL Of PESTICIDES AND HORMONES DO? THEY SAY:Processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinoalanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines. ** I SAY: There is soy with active proteins, meaning that this process isn't even used. Guest guest
And don't forget that grilling meat can cause carcinogens to form--in fact, meat cooked well-done has the most carcinogens of all. Grilling tempeh patties and vegetables does NOT cause formation of these cancerous compounds.
