Hi,

Nothing contentious to say for a change, but instead I'm after advice...

I've been a vegan for about 6 months or so, and have lost about a stone in

weight. And as I was thin before, this is not very good news.

I thought I'd been eating a fairly good diet, but obviously not. So I'm

taking the liberty of describing what I normally eat in a day, and wonder if

anyone could point on the missing link?

breakfast: large mug of (black) coffee

lunch: slice of toast, banana

dinner: either some kind of rice+tempeh/soya-type thing, or, if I'm feeling

lazy, vegan-burger and chips.

added extra: vegan vitamin tablet

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks,

John

Hi John

I lost over a stone when I turned vegan...and was supposedly under weight

for my height befofe hand.

I was adviced to eat bigger portions and food..and more variety...after

about a year I put on 2 and a half stone..heavier than I ever been as a

meat-eater or laco-ovo -vegetarian, and have maintain that weight for about

7 years now..(give or take a 2 or three pounds).

Advocados or ment to be be a fatty fruit.

John,

It helps to eat a few small meals instead of three main ones in a day.

Also try to get more fruits and vegetable into your diet as well.

Coffee is a natrual dieritc and it is not going to give you the

nutrients you need to start your day. Try a protien shake instead if

you need to drink your frist meal. Just remember you need to get your

fruits, grains, vegetables, protiens, fats, and carbs into your daily

meals.

Hope this helps.

Hi John

It sounds like you are not getting enough calories to me. I think breakfast would be a good idea. If you're like me you cannot eat early, but I take a banana and apple to work to eat as breakfast at about 9.30. I think also you should have a bigger lunch - either more bread, with a nut pate or hummous etc, or take soya yoghurt as well. I really think you just need to eat a bit more in general.
