Guest guest
I was at one of our regular grocery stores and I happened to see ONE container of Mocha Mix Vanilla Ice Cream amongst all the regular stuff. So, I purchased it. This was my first non-dairy ice cream. It was pretty good tasting. My very non veggie friend tried a bite and she said it was good. Guest guest
Good for you! Glad you found, and liked it. You're first non-dairy ice cream? Are you Vegan or Lacto Ovo Vegetarian? I only ask because I can hardly believe a Vegan could be Vegan for long without at least trying some of the non-dairy ice creams out there. Except in the cases where they don't have them available. Guest guest
It is a Kosher non dairy product. For ice cream I like to take frozen bananas and put them through my Green Power juicer- like soft serve! Then a little bit of raw carob syrup and ground raw nuts sprinkled on top- YUM! Guest guest
Tammy I stopped eating meat and eggs. I still consume dairy products so I guess that means that I am a lacto vegetarian. I have been this way for about a month. I eat regular ice cream almost everyday and I wanted to try something different. Thanks.
Guest guest
Ahh. Yes, there are Lacto Vegetarians, Ovo Vegetarians, Lacto/Ovo Vegetarians & Vegans. Some people even call themselves Vegetarian though they eat fish. That one I'll never understand. I've actually had someone tell me fish isn't an animal, it's fish! In that case I guess cows aren't animals, they're mammals. Go figure. Anyhow, glad you liked it. If you're able to get Tofutti Ice cream I'd strongly recommend the Wildberry Supreme, it's delicious! My two favorites now are Tofutti Wildberry Supreme & Mocha Mix Mocha Almond Swirl. If you're looking more for something with LOTS of chocolate flavor try Soy Delicious Chocolate Brownie Almond, quite good for a chocolate fix. Oh, and the best non-dairy ice cream sandwiches (in my opinion) are Soy Delicious Lil Buddies, Vanilla or Chocolate are both quite close to dairy versions. Soy Dream is my favorite soy milk, still has a bit of a different taste from milk but not very noticeable once you get used to it or have it with something (smoothie, etc.). Tofutti also makes pretty good cream cheese & sour cream alternatives. Hmmm, that's about all I can think of dairy-wise. Guest guest
I saw Neapolitan Soy Delicious at a local co-op, but it was ridiculously expensive--$4.75 for a quart, I think. I thought it was the lower price and was quite shocked when it rang up. They did have a fabulous sale on my Tofutti Cuties, though! I've almost gone through my pint of Rocky Road. Guest guest
Hmmm, I've never seen Soy Delicious Neapolitan. Found lots of other flavors. The Mocha Mix brand is what I found Neapolitan in. Tofutti Cuties are pretty good. Do try the Soy Delicious Lil Buddies though, if you can find them. I think they're much better (less off taste). I haven't found Rocky Road yet, I'm jealous. Was that Soy Delicious? Guest guest
I sorry Want some hummus? I found some awesome hummus at a Kosher store near (somewhat) me. It's sooo tasty and creamy I've even caught myself dipping fresh veggies in it (and Fritos...shhhh). Never thought I'd be so addicted to something that's relatively healthy (I suspect it's a bit high in fat as it is somewhat oily, no nutrition label though...oh well Take care, Tammy - Catherine Harris Wednesday, July 30, 2003 9:41 AM Re: Re: Mocha Mix Ice Cream HEEEEEEEEEEEEY you guys please stop going on about icecream and stuff.its torture.......i am diabetic and cant eat any of it............. oh for rum and raisin ice cream................ catherine
