Guest guest
I know I have only been vegan for a few months, but I have a friend who makes the most wonderful vegan food you have ever tasted. I really want to collaborate on a cookbook. I wanted suggestions, do you tend to buy vegan cookbooks, and if you would what would you like to see out there? An international cooking book? A gourmet book? Ideas appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a vegan , or message board, that discusses vegan recipes? I would love to supplement this group with a recipe group as my mind is often a blank. ;)No matter how far you have gone on the wrong road, turn back. -Turkish proverbFact: Each gallon of gas used by a car contributes almost 20 pounds of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. A single car driving 1,000 miles a month adds up to 120 tons of CO2 annually. Guest guest
I have recently jointed a list called "". It's early days yet, but it seems quite good. It is just for recipes, not chatting. Guest guest
Hi Surya, I'm sure we could post recipes right here, & just put "recipe: Vegan Sushi" in the subject line. I'd welcome recipes. The vegan cookbook I'd want would have: 1: Short nutritional blurb at the beginning noting pertinent vegan needs, (like for B12, omega 3's). 2: Be a whole foods book, as I'm not interested in white rice, white flour, etc. 3: Have recipes for making from scratch; for making your own soymilk, tofu, tempeh, seitan, 'mayo', vegan cheeses. I'm making my own soymilk/tofu now, & am developing a wicked recipe for chocolate cake, using the okara in it. Even the mainstream eaters like it! 4: That reminds me. It might be appropriate at times, to mention certain 'issues' - Like food source. For example, Fair Trade coffee is available, and that child slavery is rampant in the cocoa trades. There are Fair Trade cocoas on the market, too. 5: I love when the author puts in at least a personal line or two with each recipe, like the old Laurel's Kitchen did. I've only been a member of Veg People for a short while now, but they have a recipe board. It doesn't appear too active at the moment, but boards are living things, depending on who goes in there, right? I'm trying to drum up activity there myself now. Good luck with your endeavours! fringy **************************************************************************************************************************************************** I know I have only been vegan for a few months, but I have a friend who makes the most wonderful vegan food you have ever tasted. Guest guest
Hi! There use to be this member here (not gonna mention any names) who posted vegan recipes up the . Unfortunately he doesn't love us anymore so no more recipes. *sigh* My fav place to get them is at www.vegweb.org But I also have " The Voluptuous Vegan " by Myra Kornfield which is a pretty good cookbook. Otherwise I just take everyday recipes and turn the animal ingredients into Vegan ones. nikki To live according to nature is to live as the gods have chosen. Ideas appreciated there are a couple vegan recipe groups oth there.. but..they generally seem to be really quiet... or.. they seem to forget that chicken and cream aren't vegetables... as for cookbooks..i own a ton..unfortunately, i hardly ever follow the dumb things..i'm a kitchen sink type of cook...i tend to just add everything together and make it up as i go along..everything but the kitchen sink i tend to look for exotic cookbooks, like thai vegan, and japanese vegan and the like... cheers fraggle

Guest guest
Hey, i'm actually writing a vegan cookzine at the moment (which also includes nutrition tips, substitution tips, handy equipment, websites and books etc. due to be finished in november in time for world vegan day). I don't use recipe books myself (only to get vague ideas from) but I've noticed there's a great many recipes in several links at: www.vegsource.com but don't be restricted by looking on vegetarian websites, almost anything can be made veg*n! You just need to learn some substitution rules (i.e. what to put in place place of meat, egg, cheese, yoghurt etc. or the harder things like gelatin, suet, etc..) good luck, as soon as I hve finished my zine, I'll be free to post recipes such as vegan cream and pure banana icecream on the board just don't want to have them on the net yet, sorry guys! - In , EBbrewpunx@c... wrote: > In a message dated 8/5/03 3:14:42 AM Pacific Daylight Time, nikkimack@m... > writes: > > > > There use to be this member here (not gonna mention any names) who > > posted vegan recipes up the .
