Guest guest
Linda Mac carthys products were not suitable for vegans at the moment,I will check them out again. I phoned the helpline yesterday to be told that all contain sodium casienate, for no particularly good reason that I can imagine, and are non-vegan, despite not labelling this ingredient on the packaging. If you like Redwoods food you can do an order from them. You do have to be in for the delivery though. I have done it once (and will do it again). I put in quite a large order to make it worthwhile taking a day's leave for the delivery. Thanks, I shall certainly try this! Guest guest
Nina, My favorite recipe substitution for eggs is 1 heaping tablespoon soy flour and 1 tablespoon water per egg add the flour w/the dry ingredients, and the water with the wet. I have used this verrry successfully on everything but french toast, quiche, and flourless chocolate cake (don't ask how I found out what it didn't work on. Yuck. Silly me.) Soooo...two egg yolks are about one egg..... Let me know how it turns out; I have the same cookbook, even though it isn't vegan-friendly. Guest guest
Great point Pat, >>. may think that we think vegetarianism is the key to weight loss. But vegetarianism is a lifestyle and a vegetarian 'diet' is a way of eating, and even vegetarians and vegans can eat too much and/or eat in unhealthy ways. (And, oh yeah, 'vegetarian or vegan diet' means what veggies eat - all 'diets' are not slimming diets <wink>) That said, veggies usually weigh considerably less on average than their me*t-consuming buddies.<< I hadn't really thought about it before but we are so conditioned to automatically think " slimming " when we see the word diet that we forget that the word has a much broader meaning. I think that many of us will sadly admit that following a vegetarian diet doesn't guarantee being slim (LOL). It is so important to see the whole thing in true perspective - healthy lifestyle choices are about much more than what we eat and drink.
