Guest guest
Tonight I actually stayed home and cooked. I had cousous with cooked veggies (red & green peppers, yellow squash, zuceeni squash, carots, mushrooms) cooked in oil and a bit of basalmic viniger and then mixed it all together into one bowl. It was very good if I do say so myself. DragonspirithealerJonnie Hellens <jonnie_hellens wrote: Dang, that sounds good. I had some steamed veggies and some hash browns. Guest guest
Hopefully you had help? Two bottles and a bunch would MAKE me take a nap! Sure sounds good, other than the squash. I used to love it, especially with tomatoes, but a few years back, all the sudden I couldn't stand it. I dunno why, maybe the texture, but why a sudden dislike is weird. I love garlic. I made some garlic toast not too long ago and ended up not getting much sleep. The dog must love it too, cuz he kept breathing in my face while smelling my breath. His breath was not so nicely scented!fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: dinner last nite was lasagna with organic whole wheat noodles(came out better then i thought actually) tomatoes, garlic(lotsa garlic), mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers, and onions with grace bakings garlic bread(with more garlic added) followed by spinach salad..with tomatoes, pine nuts, and walnuts oh, and two bottles of wine and a bunch of beer i need a nap a blinding flash hotter than the sun dead bodies lie across the path the radiation colors the air finishing one by one Jonnie

Guest guest
Dinner tonight, veggie South-beach diet style: temhpi triangles marinated in Dijon mustard, lemon juice and a little olive oil, tossed in a pan and heated up Brussel sprouts w/ the left over lemon juice and a bit o' Dash seasoning Edamome(?) boiled up and shelled at the table for fun Fudge-cicle for dessert Tomorrow night....stuffed red peppers (spinach and veggie sausage) and a big tossed salad. I have to cook the next nights dinner tonight, I work days and the BF works night, so for him to eat something good, it has to be ready to be packed up before he heads to work. Being on the SB diet, I try to plan the week out for meals, so I don't have to think too much when I get home, I can eat my dinner, and get started on the following nights dinner But, if you are looking for meal ideas, the vegan lunch box blog is great! I picked up a copy of the cookbook " vegan cupcakes take over the world " and can't wait to try some soon! They will have to be special treat, and I'll be making them with some whole wheat flour mixed in too Onward and upward! Libby

Guest guest
Tonight we had butternut squash ravioli tossed with EB, pinenuts, salt and pepper. Served with broccoli. It was good but in the future I may pair the ravioliwith a balsamic vinegar reduction. To add a bit of sour to the sweetness. Guest guest
All of the frozen, or even fresh, edamame that I have bought here in Scotland are already shelled, so I cannot answer your question. I spent some time in Sudbury back in the early 70s. I was hitch-hiking coast to coast across Canada and ended up spending a good part of the summer helping out at a youth hostel in Sudbury and then a group of us moved up to La Sarre in Abitibi to work as teachers for a year. I have really fond memories of that summer, well, those bits of it that I can remember, LOL. Christie :-) , " corsuts1 " <corsuts1 wrote: > > Does anyone know why the frozen edamame come in the pods? Guest guest
The frozen edamame come both in the shell and shelled. In the shell they are a traditional finger food. You cook them until the beans are tender inside, salt the outside and then slide the shell through your teeth to extract the beans into your mouth with some of the salt from the outside. I LOVE them as finger food, but also use the shelled in stir fry or salads. Thanks all for the info. Costco sells a huge box of them with many individual plastic containers in it and call them edamame bowls to microwave but alas, they are in their pods. I just thought it strange that they weren't just the bean. > Corsut from Sudbury,Ontario,Canada.
Guest guest
It was fabulous, Katie. I have had straw mushrooms in a Chinese takeaway but I have never seen them canned here. Nor have I seen baby corn in cans - I buy them fresh. They are wonderful steamed or raw. I would maybe need to check out the Chinese supermarket for the straw mushrooms.
