So, what that should have read is that I prefer the

Quorn hotdogs, but they can be hard on the budget. The

next for me is Morning Star.

Chanda!

I haven't gotten any type of soy dog in awhile, however years ago I started

out with Yves. I really like them and was surprised that the texture was

nearly the same and so was the flavor (which to some I guess is a bad thing,

lol, but I liked it).

More recently (still a couple of years ago) I tried Morning Star mini-dogs.

I didn't like them but that is to say I didn't like the breading part not

the veg-pup part. MSF also carries full size veggie corndogs.

I don't like any of the canned subs so I stay away from those.

When you get your veg-dog, do as the package tells you. Most of them (non

canned at least and non frozen), you need to either boil them or do a

semi-steam thing (where the dogs are sitting in a bit of water and covered).

After that point you can do a " " quick " " fry or grill or whatever but the

boil/steam thingy is always best, imho. That is what gives you the texture

that isn't dry. The frying and grilling for a long time will make those

suckers dry and rubbery.

Place in either softened bun or toasted bun and top with fresh onion,

pickled jalps, relish, green onion, veggie chili and mustard. Play Ball!

I, too, like the Yves Smart Dogs. They have a great texture and I've

had them as chili dogs, beanie weinies, plain dogs, fried, nuked and

boiled.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is not to overcook them because

then their texture does turn rubbery.

Although this may have changed it was my

understanding that Morningstar (Kelloggs)

use GMO soy.

i love those little voices! *lol*

A favorite veg-dog that i prefer are made by

Worthington brand and they, believe it or not,

come in a can. They are rather dinky though...

but the texture is good. IMO, all veg-dogs pretty

much taste the same, so texture is a big issue

with me. i don't like them being mushy-gross.

i also have to have lots of toppings!

i like dill pickle relish, dijon mustard, and hot

sauce on mine. That or vegan chili piled to

overflowing.

What do you all top your dogs with?

Are Yves brand hot dogs available in your area? the Canadian company was

bought out several years ago by Hain Celestial so I would imagine the products

are available almost everywhere now. My husband doesn't like hot dogs so I

rarely buy them for myself but they are good. I buy their Ground Round all the

time. It makes a great meatless loaf.

Yes my local grocery store has them, which I buy once in a blue moon.  I'm not

REALLY heavily into veggie dogs, but occasionally I'll crave one so those are

the ones I get.
