Guest guest Posted September 27, 2009 Report Share Posted September 27, 2009 Marinated Mushrooms a.. 1 onion, sliced thin b.. 2 garlic cloves minced or sliced thin c.. 1 1/2 cups soy sauce lite d.. 2 cups water e.. 1/2 cup butter f.. 1 1/2 cups white sugar or sugar in the raw g.. 4 (8 ounce) packages fresh mushrooms, stems removed In a medium saucepan over low heat, mix soy sauce, water and butter. Stir until the butter has melted, then gradually mix in the sugar until it is completely dissolved. Place mushrooms, onions and garlic in a slow cooker set to low, and cover with the soy sauce mixture. Cook 8 to 10 hours, stirring approximately every hour. I haven't made mushrooms like this in a slow cooker before, but it would be great at our next potluck at work. Do you think these would be okay with less or no sugar? I am not a big fan of " sweet " when it comes to shrooms, preferring more the salty-tangy-garlicky flavors.
