Guest guest
Good morning, Judy. I know you use Worthington and Loma Linda vegetarian analog products a lot, so I have a question about what you use to make tacos from these products? See, I usually use dry TVP or Yves brand veggie ground, but lately I have been having trouble finding Yves in my local stores, so I want to try buying some W/LL from amazon but not sure which type to buy. Thanks! ~ PT ~
Guest guest
I use the Worthington Vegetarian Burger. It is a canned product. It is all compressed in the can and moist in small ground pieces. I heat up a frying pan with enough oil to cover the bottom of a frying pan. I then use a fork and rake the burger out of the can into the fry pan. This helps to break it up. I also break it up some more with a turning spatula. I flip it over several times so it will brown up nicely. We buy large containers of Taco Seasoning(Tones Brand) at Sam's Club and make it up according to how much it says to make for 1 lb of ground meat. You mix it with water first and then add it to the browned Vegetarian Burger. Stir into the burger until well mixed and simmer about 3 minutes or so. It is now ready for your taco's. Don't you just love those Stand and Stuff Taco Shells? I love them and they are so much easier to fill. We usually put the taco seasoned Vegetarian Burger in the taco shell, then layer shredded cheese, then some diced tomatoes, onions and shredded lettuce. They are scrumptious. BTW don't forget to crisp up your taco shells in the oven first so they aren't stale tasting. Directions are on the package of your taco shells. Guest guest
Thank you so much. I am going to order some from amazon. It figures out to be about four dollars and forty some odd cents a can with the free shipping per case. Is that a good deal? ~ PT ~ When is someone able to witness to the souls of others? Guest guest
That is a very good price and the added bonus of ordering thru them, is that there is no sales tax, no shipping cost and you've not had to spend time and gas to find a place that carries this product. It arrives within the week, so they are very quick. Judy - patchouli_troll Monday, October 05, 2009 11:51 AM Re: Judy? I have a question for you... Thank you so much. Guest guest
Awesome! Hey, let us all know whenever you hear of amazon having those grocery sales, too. I will keep my ears and eyes open too. I remember once last year, didn't they have one for $25 off your order of 100 dollars or more? Something like that... it was great. What I love about the idea of these Worthington/Loma Linda products is that they are shelf-stable and economical sources of good protein. You just can't beat it having food delivered to your home, too. Thanks a bunch, Judy! ~ PT ~ What is man's ultimate direction in life?
