Guest guest
I do have these in the oven now. This recipe is much better than the one on the Quaker box right now. My Mom had this cutout and taped in her cookbook. Donna " Original Quaker Oatmeal Cookie Recipe 1955 " 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground cloves 1 cup vegetable shortening 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 2 large eggs, beaten 2/3 cup sour milk (make by adding scant tablespoon lemon juice to milk) 1 1/3 cups Quaker oats 1 cup raisins 1 cup chopped nuts Sift first five ingredients together. Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat until smooth. Add dry ingredients in small amounts alternatively with milk. Stir in last three ingredients. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees until golden. Usually 8 mins.
